Mission
We are seeking a skilled Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our dynamic IT team. The RTE will act as a servant leader and coach for our Optigen Scrum teams, working closely with Product Owners and Scrum Masters. Your mission will be to guide the release train towards becoming high-performing, self-organizing teams that achieve their goals. You will foster collaboration among various Scrum teams and manage inter-team dependencies using Agile best practices. Additionally, you will lead key projects across Program Increments and take on a mix of RTE and proxy Product Management roles within the SAFe framework.
Optimization & generation department
The 'Optigen' release train focuses on application Transformation, Build, and Run activities for the Power/Gas Optimization and Generation business departments. We manage numerous applications, including cloud-native custom-built applications and SaaS solutions, through three dedicated Scrum Teams.
Tasks
Lead medium-sized transformation:
Support the Domain Director during the E2E delivery cycle of major transformation programs
Assist with the intake and scoping of transformation programs alongside the Business Engagement Manager
Collaborate with Business and Procurement stakeholders to support RFP processes and enhance project transparency across Pis and Scrum teams
Meeting PI & cross PI objectives:
Co-manage the translation of the IT roadmap into technology projects and ensure delivery adherence
Ensure the Scrum teams progress towards their goals by helping them focus on daily and Sprint Goals within the current Program Increment (PI) Objectives
Actively address impediments beyond the team's authority to keep the team focused on achieving Sprint objectives
Maintain quality standards as defined in the user story Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, and other quality benchmarks
Enhance visibility in terms of releases and components in a multi-application team environment
Translate Waterfall roadmaps to agile setups and vice versa, maintaining focus on hard deadlines in an agile multi-team setup
Manage RTE collaboration within a bigger IT department:
Prepare PI planning and breakouts in collaboration with the program team
Coordinate inter-team cooperation on the release train level and represent the RTE on the Lean Agile Centre Excellence (Lace)
Building a high-performing team:
Focus on improving team dynamics and performance
Facilitate team retrospectives and help the team manage interpersonal conflicts and growth opportunities
Coach Scrum Masters in facilitating Agile Rituals, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective
Promote Agile Values, SAFe quality practices, and implement chosen SAFe Principles.
Drive the adoption of techniques like test automation, CI/CD, pair programming, and effective demos
Encourage new/enhanced processes to improve flow and quality, such as release management and LCM
Competences
Extensive experience in Agile methodologies, preferably SAFe, and project management
Proficient in following up and reporting team delivery using Project Management software such as Jira
Strong affinity with IT solutions and a good understanding of complex IT architectures and business contexts
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills through storytelling and presentations
Critical thinking for process improvement and boosting creativity
Fluent in English; proficiency in Dutch and/or French is a plus
