Your role in our tribe
You are part of the dynamic Legal & Regulatory department at Telenet. Led by the team manager of the Legal Competition & Wholesale team, you mainly provide legal support in the field of competition law in a wide range of domains within Telenet and its various affiliated companies.
Your responsibilities as Legal Counsel
* Advising on legal and regulatory compliance, mainly in competition law and FDI in close cooperation with the company.
* Review and draft internal policies and guidelines on competition law and FDI legislation.
* Review competition law and FDI related issues.
* Acting as legal point of contact for these matters, both internally and externally towards law firms.
* Advising on the implementation of new legislation.
* Supervising disputes and litigation.
* Contacts with various regulatory authorities on FDI and competition law.
* Review, draft (in part) and negotiate various contracts, working closely with other lawyers, regulatory specialists and managers.
* Contribute to the broader goals and/or activities of the Legal & Regulatory department and the company.
What you will be engaged in
* To provide support on regulatory policy and legal aspects of merger control and FDI control processes as needed.
* Providing insightful and pragmatic commercial legal advice on competition law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, e.g., providing legal support during due diligence, reviewing relevant deal documentation, providing pre-closing guidance, and providing competition law support in integration workstreams.
* Providing legal and regulatory guidance on contractual and behavioral competition law issues (e.g., horizontal and vertical agreements).
* Assist with competition law issues relating to networks, services, products and consumers in the broadest sense, including telecom, digital services and networks, media and content.
* Involve in strategic business projects and provide advice and analysis where appropriate.
* Be our in-house expert and coordinate with outside law firms on disputes.
* Stay ahead by advising on (the implementation of) new legislation and ensure we are aligned on compliance.
* Design tools and processes that can make our legal support even better and more efficient. Create masterpieces in the form of templates, guidelines and training.
* Collaborate and contribute to the broader goals and dreams of the Legal & Regulatory tribe and the Telenet family.
Our ideal Legal Counsel
* You have obtained a master’s degree in law. Additional specialization in European and/or Belgian competition law is an asset.
* Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field of competition law, with a special mention for those who have worked at a solid law firm.
* A sincere interest in the technology sector, telecom, media and/or complex network or IT services.
* Skilled in Dutch, English and (to a lesser extent) French.
* Excellent at parsing complex questions and deciphering large amounts of information.
* Able to translate legal jargon into pragmatic and understandable advice.
* Not afraid to think outside the legal box as well as a well-developed sense of business ethics.
* Adaptive and resilient; ready to navigate in a large and highly dynamic, ever-changing environment.
* Proactive "can do" mentality; not afraid to execute a project and see it through to completion, while always guarding the legal framework and red lines.
* Inclusive and open-minded; you value "teamwork" and understand the power of diverse thinking.
