Join Elia’s National Control Center as Grid & Market Operations Specialist and play a crucial role in managing and ensuring the safety of the national electricity grid. If you have a passion for energy, want to play a role in the energy transition and want to be part of a dynamic team that supports the smooth operation of the electricity grid, this role is for you Your responsibilities You will work within the ‘Grid & Market Operations’ team and be responsible for supporting grid and market analysis for the national operational dispatching teams. Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing: Prepare Grid Models: you create and update grid models and integrate forecast consumption, production, and market exchanges. These grid models are key to perform calculations and to ensure grid stability. Support Market Processes: you oversee day-ahead and intraday market processes to ensure smooth operation and effective coordination with European markets. Coordinate with Key Players: you act as the central link between our national control center, planning departments, and external partners, including consumers, producers, and other grid operators. Run Grid Simulations: you perform simulations of the grid to anticipate issues, solve potential process problems, and recommend preventive or corrective measures to real-time operations. Contribute to Reports: you share key insights through reports and support data monitoring to maintain grid safety. Improve Operational Procedures: you keep our operational procedures up to date and contribute to development projects within the National Control Center. Serve as a Process Expert: you take on a specialist role within the team for specific areas like congestion forecasting, renewable energy forecasting, or capacity calculations. Educational Background: You hold a bachelor degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Languages: You’re fluent in Dutch or French and have a good command of English. Strong verbal communication skills are essential. Flexibility with Work Hours: You’re willing to work varying shifts, including: Weekday office hours: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 65% of your working days Weekday late hours: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. 25% of your working days Weekend late hours: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. 10% of your working days Shift premiums apply for working outside standard office hours. Problem-Solving Skills: You enjoy analyzing complex problems and coming up with creative, simplified solutions.
