The Local Procurement & Pricing Specialist is responsible for the procurement and pricing of ocean and/or intermodal rates and defines the BDP Transport products in the respective country.
Responsibilities:
1. Ocean and intermodal procurement in the country
2. Arrange filing of procured contract rates in rate repository system
3. Set margins for new business in concert with management and regional team
4. Tender Procurement & Pricing
5. Calculation & production of transport quotations in concert with sales
6. Analysis & optimization of existing transport business (solutions & margins)
7. Working on client specific transport solutions in concert with sales and regional team
8. Troubleshooting, needcase escalate issues to regional/management level
9. Maintain strong relationship with local ocean carrier contacts
10. Customer visits in concert with sales
11. Safeguard core carrier utilization in concert with Regional Procurement
12. Safeguard data integrity in booking system
13. Work on RFQs in pricing system, enter RFQs on behalf of sales if needed
14. Monitoring of quote success
15. Reporting of country specific data to the Regional Director
16. Local carrier management with regards to general cooperation and payment conditions
17. Focal point for Operations and Sales to BDP Transport
Minimum Requirements:
1. Must have a High School degree or equivalent
2. A minimum experience of 3 years in the carrier or freight forwarding industry is required (preferably procurement experience)
3. Knowledge in MS Excel
4. Combined excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to analyse situations and to make good decisions based on available information
5. Ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures
6. Must have a charismatic and confident personality as well as an exceptional work ethic
7. Good Telephone and Email etiquette
8. Good command of the local and English language
