Senior HR Officer - HR Office - College of Europe in Bruges

The College of Europe is seeking applications for the position of Senior HR Officer (100% FTE) at the College of Europe in Bruges. Starting as soon as possible, the successful candidate will take over a key role in the small but dynamic team of the Bruges campus’ HR Office, becoming part of the administration of one of the most renowned postgraduate institutes of European studies.
About the College of Europe in Bruges:
Hosting annually approx. 340 students from all over the continent and beyond, the Bruges campus of the College of Europe (established in 1949) offers a vibrant educational space under the motto of “studying and living Europe together” in its residential academic programmes. Centred around the mission of providing the best possible environment for all members of the College community, the international team of the campus’ administration is grouped into several Offices that support the operations of the institution. The HR Office provides key services in this respect – and makes crucial contributions to the further development of the campus’ administrative policies and procedures.
The role:
* You will be the right hand of the HR director in support of the entire HR process, from onboarding to offboarding;
* You get the opportunity to help shape our approach to HR;
* You can make contributions to the development of new, but also the optimisation of existing HR processes;
* You are the contact point for international staff and provide support on both HR-related and practical matters;
* You are up to date on the applicable social and labour legislation, and immerse yourself in it looking for information on a variety of HR topics;
* You are always one step ahead of HR trends, best practices and developments, and proactively share this knowledge within the team;
* You actively participate in brainstorming sessions with the HR team to develop proposals and then implement these projects within the organisation;
* You help prepare the annual budget of the Office.
Your profile:
* You hold a Bachelor or Master degree in HR or a related field, and you have at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
* You are a true HR generalist, familiar with Belgian social and labour legislation;
* You are hands-on, eager to learn with a healthy sense of initiative, stress-resilient and well organised;
* You are open-minded and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in dealing with colleagues;
* You can work both independently and in a team;
* Your work ethic includes flexibility, reliability and discretion in handling confidential information;
* You have excellent communication skills;
* You have a very good knowledge of Dutch and English (both oral and written), knowledge of French is an advantage;
* You work well with Word, Excel, Outlook as well as HR-related programmes (time registration, payroll administration, etc.).
