Government Relations at SSAB
The main goal of the Governmental Relations function at SSAB is to support our business, divisions, and sites in the transition journey as well as our frontrunner position. The main responsibility for the Head of EU Affairs is to secure knowledge and understanding of SSAB’s needs in the relevant European Union institutions. This includes positioning SSAB in the Brussels context and working together with important stakeholders.
The Head of EU Affairs position comes with a high degree of own responsibility to plan, act, and deliver on identified tasks combined with a clear emphasis on team effort. ‘We win and we lose together’.
The Head of EU Affairs will interface inside the company with the Government Relations Team, Divisions, Sustainability, Technical Development, Research & Innovation, Legal, Corporate Identity, Group Communications, HR, and HYBRIT.
What You’ll Do
Main accountabilities include:
1. Plan and execute projects within the framework of SSAB advocacy work independently.
2. Position SSAB in the EU/Brussels context, ensuring participation, engagement, and dialogue with relevant stakeholders, forums, and platforms.
3. Represent SSAB in relevant organizations/platforms in Brussels.
4. Monitor, identify, and analyze relevant policy measures and forums in relevant policy areas.
5. Plan, develop, and execute events and activities (such as stakeholder dialogues, seminars, etc.) together with GRT and SSAB colleagues.
Desired Knowledge and Experience for the Successful Candidate
1. University degree in political science, law, or equivalent.
2. Previous relevant work experience.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to work both strategically and hands-on.
5. Focused on improvement and efficiency.
6. Flexible and a great team player.
7. Fluent in English (Swedish and/or Finnish + other languages would be advantageous).
