In the position of legal counsel, you will play a key role in addressing the daily legal challenges associated with the operation and the expansion of a dynamic fashion company. Reporting directly to the legal director, you will collaborate closely with and provide support to internal teams across all areas of the business. Additionally, you will engage with external stakeholders, including law offices and business partners, to effectively manage contracts, negotiations, and other legal matters critical to the company's success.
Drafting and reviewing of commercial and corporate agreements, such as but not limited to partnership, agency, distribution, IT, and licensing agreements;
Formalization of other legal documents such as policies, terms and conditions, and templates such as NDA’s;
Following-up of changes in the legislation, which can have an important impact on our company and business;
Providing adequate legal advice and research to the different departments such as commercial and marketing, HR, production, supply chain, styling, in order to ensure compliance in a variety of legal areas;
Providing support for the HR department in complex cases, and drafting of HR documents and policies;
Contract management;
Managing the trademark portfolio, in terms of registration, renewal, infringements in collaboration with law offices;
Assist in long term projects such as the sustainability project.
Who are you
You have a Master’s degree in Law, and have a strong understanding of business law, such as intellectual property, contract, information technology law and compliance requirements;
You have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar function as an in-house legal counsel or lawyer, preferably in a fashion or retail environment, or a law firm specializing in relevant field;
You are able to understand and translate the business needs into agreements and legal documents;
You are able to work cross-functionally and interact with the different departments within the organisation, as well as with external partners;
You take initiative and are able to work independently on legal projects and follow them up from a to z;
You work in an organized and structured way, and you attach great importance to accuracy. You are flexible and practical, and you are able to manage projects simultaneously;
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, in Dutch, French and English.
