You will collaborate closely with different business units, providing strategic legal guidance to support growth and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.Key Responsibilities:- Assisting the business lines with day-to-day legal matters, such as negotiating and drafting of commercial contracts, handling disputes and potential litigations.- Providing research, business-oriented advice, and other legal assistance to the business lines.- Developing the bank's policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance, or regulatory affairs.- Providing clarification on legal language or specifications to the business lines and setting up legal training programmes.- Communicating and negotiating with external parties (external counsel, regulator, Ombudsfin, etc.), creating relations of trust, or supporting the business with such requests.- Draft and update contracts, procedures, and other legal documentation.- Manage and maintain a comprehensive legal and contractual database.- Streamline legal processes to enhance efficiency and eliminate bottlenecks.- Stay abreast of evolving laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and timely updates to relevant business units.- Regularly review the bank's decisions and actions, identifying potential legal risks and proposing alternative solutions.- Oversee transactional work, including M&A, structured finance, and capital markets, while managing external legal counsel when needed.- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal team members, ensuring the quality and consistency of their work.Profile- Education: Master’s degree in Belgian Law, with outstanding academic results.- Languages: Proficiency in French or Dutch (written and spoken), with a strong command of English.- Experience: 5-7 years of relevant legal experience, ideally with a background in IT-related contracts, banking, litigation, tax, or general commercial law.- Strong ability to work independently, proactively, and with a hands-on approach.- Meticulous attention to detail, considering all legal aspects before making recommendations.- Excellent analytical, research, communication, and drafting skills.- A diplomatic approach, able to build trust and foster collaboration across the business.- A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn, staying updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.OfferIn addition to the opportunity to make a real impact within an innovative FinTech player and to help shape the future of the financial services industry, our client offers an attractive financial package, including the key benefits of the banking sector, e.G. generous vacation days and a comprehensive range of fringe benefits such as a company car, fuel card, mobile phone,...
