Customer Experience Solution is responsible for customer-facing IT systems of SNCB, including commercial channels and products, passenger information systems and systems for stations, facilities and buildings.
As a solution architect you are responsible to define solution architectures in the CES domain. You have the ability to grasp the complexity associated with large scale systems, and break it down into simpler, understandable bits towards both engineers as well as business stakeholders. You're able to facilitate the architectural processes, identifying desired qualities and constraints, ensuring risks and trade-offs are discussed within the team(s) and guiding business and IT management to take informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure that the architecture of the products you're assigned to is sound, well-understood and continues to evolve in a direction that best supports the business case and follows the existing guardrails.
* Facilitate the architectural debate, ensuring the architectural decisions are made consciously and its trade-offs (or derived risks) are well understood, both internally (towards the involved teams) and externally (towards our client's stakeholders).
* Act as a key partner that works between business stakeholders, IT managers, enterprise architects, domain architects and delivery teams.
* Ensure that the solution architecture is correctly implemented by validating the solution design and following up its implementation.
* Ensure knowledge is shared across your colleagues.
* Evaluate project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform re-engineering if required.
* Update stakeholders about any issues connected to the architecture.
* Master in Informatics or Master in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent by experience.
* At least 5 years of relevant experience as a solution architect.
* Familiarity with the principles, opportunities and challenges of modern architectural paradigms and the ability to apply them.
* Broad knowledge of technologies; allowing collaboration efficiently with experts while assessing the impact of a technological choice on the architectural design, including: Cloud Solutions, Docker and Kubernetes, Database systems (relational, document, key/value, graph, search, data warehouse, etc.) and data engineering frameworks, Messaging & eventing systems, Connectivity & networking concepts, Communication protocols and technologies (HTTP, WS, REST, OAuth, OIDC, SAML, GraphQL, etc.).
Familiarity with the challenges posed by creating secure software and how to manage them.
* Proven experience with common software engineering practices (SDLC, DevOps, etc.) and architecture modeling practices & languages (UML, EER, Swagger, Archimate, etc.).
* Keen to learn new things, share knowledge, embrace change and learn from past experiences. Drawing on a whiteboard to facilitate a debate comes naturally.
* Able to work in a team.
* Affinity with product design and engineering top-notch digital products.
* Able to handle the pressure and flexibility of a dynamic company.
* Excellent communication skills and able to communicate in both technical and layman’s terms.
Our offer:
