Job Description
The Director – Rebar & Formwork Plant and Services at BESIX is responsible for overseeing the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the rebar and formwork plant and associated services (technical support, pre-assembly of rebar, placement on site, …). This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team, ensuring efficient production, optimizing service delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The director will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients to ensure seamless integration of rebar and formwork solutions into BESIX’s construction projects. The plant consists of more than 30 workers and 10 employees. The new director will replace the current director, who is retiring, and will undergo a smooth handover and transition period to ensure continuity and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Business Development:
• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the rebar and formwork division in alignment with BESIX’s overall growing business objectives.
• Identify growth opportunities, new technologies, and innovative approaches to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and internal project teams.
• Lead and implement the transformation of the current plant, increasing production from around 20,000 tons per year to 30,000 tons or more per year within 2 years.
• Lead the commercial development of the department, targeting both internal BESIX Group and external customers.
• Continue and support the several changes the plant is currently undergoing to reach operational excellence through lean methodologies, automation, top-tier QHSE performance, and a strong focus on preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Focus on offering the best service to internal clients, ensuring support and improvement of their operational activities.
• Identify and develop new investment opportunities for formwork services (only for internal BESIX clients).
Operational Management:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the rebar and formwork plant, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and high-quality output.
• Management of the various quality certificates (BENOR, KOMO, NF)
• Implement best practices in production planning, supply chain management, and resource optimization.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Financial & Performance Management:
• Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers and service providers to optimize cost efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across engineering, production, logistics, and support functions.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Ensure training and upskilling programs are in place to keep the team updated with industry advancements.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in rebar and formwork manufacturing, construction services, or a related industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of rebar fabrication, formwork systems, and construction methodologies.
• Proven experience in plant management, operations optimization, and cost control.
• Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control processes.
• Language skills: fluent in Dutch and French, good knowledge of English
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and drive profitability
