European Commission has an open position for Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Horizon 2020-2030 programme.
The IT challenge
Implement and maintain database servers. Develop processes for optimizing database security.
Perform database infrastructure upgrades. Apply database patches to resolve issues, maintain supportability, and ensure security.
Control all migrations of database schema objects between TEST, QA, and PRODUCTION environments.
Perform ongoing database performance tuning and system resource optimization.
Setup and respond to standardized alerts, perform regular log analysis, monitor and maintain systems to identify any issues. Maintain overall system health to maximize system uptime and ensure delivery of service level objectives. Design and implement a backup & recovery system. Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards. Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Work on customer support tickets and requests.
Work with Development, Middleware, Server, and Network Administrators to resolve application problems. Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors. Provide support for the restoration of service and perform root cause analysis.
Develop documentation for assigned projects including installation guides, troubleshooting guides, run books, etc.
Keep abreast of the latest developments in the industry and guide project teams to follow industry best practices.
Skills required
Oracle 11g, 12c for Unix/Linux (RedHat, Oracle Linux)
Virtual environments (VMWare, Oracle)
Experience in running a project related to database installation and management
Scripting skills (Unix shells for Oracle).
Excellent PL/SQL skills.
Experience with upgrading/migrating databases to new versions.
English and EU Citizenship Mandatory
Master or bachelor in IT

Salary up to: 550€/day

Other points of the offer
Currently, due to COVID, the job will be performed 100% remotely; after COVID, it will require 1 day per week in the office.
The salary/daily rates presented are the maximum as a freelancer when meeting all criteria.
Belgium permanent employment contract is also one option, with salaries around 3200-3500€ (value after all taxes), when meeting all criteria.
Important note:
You will be hired by an IT consulting company that has a contract with the European Commission; you won't have any contract with the European Commission.
