Regional Director of Regulatory Affairs and Institutional Relations
You will play a pivotal role in advancing PSA’s policy objectives by managing relationships with European institutions, national governments, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.
Role:
You will be responsible for monitoring and shaping regulatory developments, identifying and securing public funding opportunities, and supporting business development efforts to expand PSA’s presence in new and existing markets. This strategic role requires deep expertise in public policy, regulatory advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and public funding, as well as strong leadership and coordination skills and a comprehensive understanding of our business.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across European business units in Belgium, Portugal, Italy, and Poland, as well as with global and regional teams. Based in Antwerp, this position offers an exciting opportunity to shape policy, drive growth, and contribute to PSA’s sustainability goals. This role reports to the Regional Head of Sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
* Regulatory Monitoring, Policy Development & Advocacy
o Monitor European and national regulatory developments and legislative initiatives relevant to PSA’s operations.
o Provide actionable reports and recommendations, highlighting both risks and opportunities.
o Proactively develop and implement PSA’s policy agenda in alignment with strategic business objectives in close collaboration with all key internal functions.
o Advocate PSA’s positions in collaboration with internal regional and national teams, industry peers, and relevant associations, thereby actively shaping the regulatory agenda.
* Institutional Relationship Management
o Build and maintain a strong network and relationship with European institutions, national authorities, and related industry stakeholders.
o Represent PSA and support senior management in representation to policymakers, regulators, funding bodies and industry forums.
* Brand and Reputation Building
o Enhance PSA’s corporate brand and reputation among institutional stakeholders, collaborating with Corporate Communications.
* Funding Acquisition
o Identify projects eligible for institutional funding and coordinate robust applications with project managers.
o Engage directly with funding bodies to maximize success rates.
* Internal Coordination and Stakeholder Alignment
o Align efforts across internal teams, ensuring consistency in advocacy, policy, branding, and funding activities.
o Collaborate with business units in existing markets and support business development teams in new markets.
Profile
* Education: Advanced degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience with demonstrable expertise in regulatory affairs, public policy, or institutional relations will also be considered.
* Experience: 10+ years of progressively senior roles in regulatory affairs, public policy, institutional relations, government affairs, or a closely related field. Proven track record of advocacy success in shaping policy agendas or influencing regulatory frameworks with European and/or national institutions. Experience with European or national funding programs is a strong asset. Familiarity with the maritime, logistics, or transportation industries is a plus. In-depth understanding of European regulatory and legislative processes. Strong policy analysis and strategic thinking capabilities. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. Demonstrated ability to build and leverage high-level networks across multiple countries. Organizational and coordination skills for managing cross-functional initiatives. Proactive, results-oriented, and adept at relationship building. Strong cultural sensitivity and a collaborative mindset. Balances attention to detail with a focus on broader strategic goals.
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in additional European languages is highly desirable.
