A CHALLENGING JOB CONTENT
You play an essential role in the development of our innovative, biological and chemical products and their commercial production by identifying and addressing intellectual property requirements.
1. You screen existing patents and you formulate advices for the company on freedom-to-operate versus 3rd party patent rights. You gather external opinions if needed.
2. You screen the internal Research & Development results in order to propose patent applications that protect the acquired knowledge on processes and results.
3. You support pro-actively the R&D department with IP input in their development strategy.
4. You cooperate with an external patent attorney to file and defend patent applications at the official patent offices.
5. You challenge the validity of 3rd party patent rights when needed.
6. You continuously follow and implement the evolutions in patent law.
7. You work closely with the IP Manager and other colleagues from various departments (R&D Belgium, R&D UK, Legal). You report to the Head of Product Development in Belgium.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
8. You have a Master’s degree in (Bio)chemistry or Bioengineering or equivalent
9. You have at least 5 years of experience in patents within the Chemistry and Biology field.
10. You have a basic knowledge of international laws regarding intellectual property and of IP commercialization processes.
11. You speak and write English fluently. Your communication is clear and concise and you can adapt to different stakeholders.
12. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
13. You have a growth mindset and are willing to continuously learn and develop.
14. You can work autonomously and attach great importance to teamwork.
15. You are well organized and can handle several projects/ dossiers simultaneously.
