SPDG is the holding company of the Périer-D’Ieteren family.
It manages its long-standing shareholding in the D’Ieteren family Group and, following its recently announced strategic divestment, will intensify its investments in operational activities linked to the energy transition, infrastructure, mobility, and the circular economy (the “thematic scope”).
Building on its experience of exceptional value creation within the D’Ieteren Group, SPDG will continue a highly structured search for strong operational teams and companies active in such sectors, to foster a better economy.
Looking to the future, SPDG will build an entrepreneurial portfolio of controlled holdings, inspired by its multi-generational family values: courage, curiosity, fairness, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
Position
The selected candidate will integrate the investment team to provide support to the principals and operating partners in the sourcing, analysis and follow-up of the various investment projects pursued by SPDG with a particular focus on small-cap listed equity investments.
Principal responsibilities
Typical tasks entrusted to the selected candidate shall inter alia include the following:
* Market research and competitive intelligence related to the above themes
* Sourcing and identification of potential investment opportunities
* Support in the due diligence of investment projects, notably including financial modelling and valuation reports.
* Support in the follow-up of portfolio investments, notably including strategic and business planning, analysis of company reporting, tracking of KPIs, competitive watch, ESG monitoring and reporting, etc.
Profile sought
The candidate shall typically have a master’s degree in an economic, management, law, or engineering discipline, ideally complemented by internships in a relevant domain such as private equity, venture capital, asset management, consulting or corporate finance.
She or he must have the intellectual breadth to understand the dynamic nature of the targeted economic sectors, their evolution and the development of companies operating in those sectors.
The candidate shall demonstrate an interest in technology and be able to formulate a high-level understanding of the technological components of existing or prospective investments.
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in listed equities and a good understanding of market dynamics, fundamental analysis, and valuation methods.
The candidate must also have the ambition to make a positive societal impact in his or her work, in adequation with SPDG’s core values.
Skills and qualifications
The candidate should demonstrate:
* Strong numerical skills, including ability to work with financial models.
* Experience with market studies and competitive intelligence.
* Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment as well as with external parties.
* Intellectual curiosity and analytical mindset.
* Attention to detail and good writing skills.
* Ability to multi-task and to manage deadlines.
* Fluent in English, and preferably French and/or Dutch.
Our offer
This is an offer for a 6-month internship contract within a dynamic and evolving small-team environment. The applicant must be able and ready to work in Brussels, and to travel to the countries in which we invest (essentially in Western Europe).
