What you will be doing
For the Engineering Team of Umicore Battery Materials, located in Olen (BE), we are looking for a Project Engineer Mechanical, reporting to the Engineering Manager. In this role you are responsible for coordinating the design and construction of its area of responsibility & expertise and to collaborate closely with project management, EPCm companies and contractors to efficiently implement new assets and facilities.
Project Engineer Mechanical Responsibilities :
1. Prepare, revise and approve user documentation for the design phases of projects, guaranteeing that standards, guidelines, best available, safe and cost-effective solutions are considered.
2. Ensure that project documents are complete and efficient for a competitive and fair tender process.
3. Support the procurement phase of specific components and works, screening from bids to good reception confirmation in support of the project management.
4. Support the construction, installation and commissioning of assigned projects, within your area of responsibility.
5. Work with other Engineering teams, integrating the work with other specialties into the final project solution, assuring targets are met and without unexpected delays in production.
6. Complete all work you're leading, plan and deliver on time, safely, efficiently, reliably and in a cost-effective manner.
7. Collect relevant data to advise the decision makers regarding sophisticated issues
8. Propose improvements (procedures, organizational, new technologies, CAPEX, productivity) as appropriate.
9. Capture user feedback and lessons learned for future projects.
10. Collaborate in internal and external audits.
11. Manage vendors analyze the potential risk and recommend actions to mitigate the problems from construction (EHS, labor, logistics …).
12. Support commissioning of the equipment before handing over to the Process team, support process team during the internal qualification
Who we are looking for
13. Bachelor or Master degree, or equivalent qualification, in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation/Automation
14. Technical experience and/or background in the execution of engineering projects (for specialties above mentioned)
15. Proven experience and understanding in the execution of industrial projects in operational environments
16. Knowledge of design software (e.g. AutoCad)
17. Knowledge of EHS standards, industry good practices and legal requirements applicable to the specialty of focus
18. Experience, Knowledge and Skills to manage the different projects in a timely manner and in accordance with the rules and procedures set down.
19. Experience of multi-disciplinary engineering activities and its workflow.
20. Proficient in English. Speaking Dutch will be a plus.
21. Regular Travel to the different plants (in and outside of Europe) is required
