FERMA is seeking a Head of EU Affairs to lead and elevate its advocacy efforts, strengthening the Federation’s influence within the European Union. This role reports directly to Typhaine Beaupérin, FERMA’s CEO and Secretary General.
Founded in 1974 and based in Brussels, the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) is the leading advocate for the risk management profession in Europe. Representing 23 associations from 22 countries, FERMA connects a thriving network of over 5,600 risk professionals from diverse industries.
The Head of EU Affairs role
Are you passionate about driving change at the European level? Join FERMA as the Head of EU Affairs and take the lead in shaping the future of risk and insurance management policy across Europe.
As the voice of the risk management profession, FERMA relies on your expertise to:
1. Develop and Drive EU Advocacy Strategy
– Lead FERMA’s EU advocacy efforts, crafting impactful strategies.
– Organise and coordinate working groups of risk experts from our 23 member associations.
– Collaborate with members to shape FERMA’s positions, drafting key documents like position papers, guidance notes, and consultation responses.
2. Build Strong Stakeholder Engagement
– Forge and nurture relationships with EU institutions, EIOPA, the OECD, and other influential stakeholders.
– Prepare and lead bilateral meetings with EU officials on critical topics.
3. Monitor, Advise, and Guide
– Track and assess legislative and policy developments affecting risk and insurance management.
– Advise on regulatory impacts and identify opportunities to influence EU decision-making.
4. Champion Thought Leadership
– Design advocacy campaigns and represent FERMA in meetings and forums with EU policymakers.
– Collaborate on FERMA events and coordinate key actions.
– Attend industry events, providing insights and reporting back to the team.
Candidate Profile: Is this you?
* You’re eager for a new challenge and deeply passionate about EU policy and law-making.
* You bring 5+ years of experience in EU affairs, including relevant experience in one of the EU institutions, the EU public affairs industry or with/within EU Commission agencies.
* You have a first-class degree in European Politics or Law, ideally with expertise in financial, digital or climate policies.
* Knowledge of risk management or insurance? That’s a valuable bonus.
* You have a thorough understanding of the EU legislative process and the political/business landscape across Europe.
* A proactive self-starter, you thrive on taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
* You like working and networking with people of different cultural backgrounds and at all levels of seniority internally and externally.
* A natural communicator, you excel in written and verbal expression.
* Fluent in English, with French or other European languages as an asset.
