BEA Sensors Europe is looking for our future Application Engineer to join our highly motivated Factory and Logistics Automation Solutions (FLAS) team for our European markets. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission to bring innovative sensing technologies to the factory and logistics automation sector. In addition to our focus on mobile robots and intralogistics, this position benefits from a varied field of activities attending to applications in our diversification portfolio.
MISSION
As an Application Engineer, you will act as the technical expert and form the bridge between BEA’s innovative sensing solutions and our customers' industrial applications. You will work closely with internal teams, customers and partners to ensure our products meet and exceed expectations in diverse automation environments.
Your main responsibilities are:
1. Be(-coming) the Product Expert for the FLAS segment
You are the expert on and the go-to person for the FLAS product range. Whether it is one of our colleagues who is unsure about the details of our new time-of-flight laser scanner or a customer who has a specific question about the suitability of a sensor for a certain application – you know and provide the right information. You master the capabilities and limitations of our products and have an in-depth understanding of the technology we employ in our products. Your product and technology expertise forms a solid basis for your reliability when interacting with customers and stakeholders.
2. Technical support (on-site and remote)
Assist our customers in integrating our products into their automation systems, including mobile robots (AGVs & AMRs) and intralogistics systems, among other applications. As technology expert, you provide technical support for BEA’s sensor portfolio, particularly for Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser scanners, radar sensors, and active infrared technologies that are used in FLAS applications. You help our customers in troubleshooting and resolve technical issues by offering timely and effective solutions. In this context you highlight the advantages of BEA’s products and keep an ear open to collect information on our markets.
3. Develop and support projects to success
You’re comfortable cooperating closely with our client’s R&D / Product Management and support them in projects, especially during a test installation or for training purposes. During these projects, your apprehension and technical expertise allow you to grasp the requirements, needs and wishes of our customers. You identify and collect these inputs and feed them back to our internal organization. In doing so, you help to specify and/or customize our own products together with our internal stakeholders.
4. Entrepreneurial attitude to drive business segment growth
As BEA’s youngest segment, FLAS aims to grow substantially and therefore comes with more of a start-up atmosphere than our other departments. In this environment, you combine a sense of ownership with a hands-on attitude. In your daily work you keep the bigger picture in mind to support the team. Be it by gathering commercial insights during a customer visit or through collaborating with colleagues to get things done – you’re driven by our common goal to grow our business segment.
5. Be a communicator and facilitator
In your role, you’ll have to communicate and collaborate with partners, customers and internal departments alike. You’ll share your experiences and insights with our R&D, marketing, sales, and product management. This requires you to have a keen sense of appropriate communication. Therefore, your communication style is clear, professional and tailored to the needs of your counterpart.
YOUR PROFILE
* You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, mechatronics, or related disciplines)
* Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a technical role, ideally in the field of industrial sensor applications, industrial automation, raw-data sensor integration or machine safety
* Languages: You are fluent in English (C1/C2), and German (C1/C2), French is a strong asset
* You combine a hands-on / start-up mentality with a methodical and structured approach to work to manage varied tasks, from technical support to project management.

* For our new parents, we take in charge 14 weeks of Parental Leave (new borns or adoption), both for moms (full paid maternity leave), dads as well as same sex parents.
