As a data engineer/scientist in the IBA Clinical Digital team, you will work with data analysts, scientists, and engineers to support our Proton Therapy business unit. The mission of the team is to power the digitalisation of our Proton Therapy business, spanning installations & operations of the PT centres, finance, product management, ...
Over the past years, the team has been working on creating a data-driven company with ready-to-use dashboards, datasets, and self-services in the data warehouses; improving our operations with advanced analytics (e.g. predictive maintenance, machine alarms); and digitizing employee experience & internal processes via PowerApps. This could not be possible without a strong data backbone.
Challenges we trust you with
* Build robust and scalable data pipelines that enable various analyses from Data scientists or Data Analysts. The data can vary in size, going up to hundreds of Terabytes when it comes to machine data.
* Optimize the performance of your data processing using concepts like distributed computing, CPU/memory/IO balancing, etc.
* Advise the team in charge of machine data collection on best practices in terms of storage and format.
* Collaborate with the data architect to implement the global data strategy.
* Participate in machine learning projects such as predictive maintenance, both on the data science side and the MLOps side.
* Explore data to provide insights about its quality and content.
* Ensure the adoption of new datasets by supporting/upskilling data analysts.
* Coach junior team members on technical topics.
What we value
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* At least 4 years of proven experience in data engineering or data science.
* Proficient in Python, Git, SQL.
* Relevant cloud experience (Azure preferred).
* Experience with Apache Spark or any other distributed computing framework.
* Experience handling big data.
* Passionate about data.
Nice to have
* Experience with Terraform.
* Experience with Databricks, Delta tables.
* Experience with Azure Data Factory, Dagster.
* Knowledge in engineering (physics, electromagnetism, mechanics).
* Experience in machine learning.
* Knowledge of the JVM internals.
And you also are:
* Internal customer-oriented.
* Able to explain highly technical concepts to less technical people in an understandable way.
* Autonomous and eager to learn new technologies.
* Proactive and willing to share ideas to help the team grow.
* Fluent in English; French is a plus.
