What you will be doing
As Manager Environment you are the expert center of the site in Olen for a number of specific environmental topics in particular soil and groundwater remediation, water management incl. waste water treatment, hazardous substances and noise aspects!
You will develop, lead and participate in (cross-departmental) projects with the aim of aligning processes and/or the operation of the service and BUs with legal requirements and permit demands.
To this end, you keep yourself continuously informed of legislative evolutions and developments in the field of environmental topics and technology with the aim of increasing knowledge and to keep Umicore processes in these expert field top notch.
Your detailed responsibilities
1. Project management: organising, developing and supporting improvement projects/processes including follow-up action plan, project dates, coordinating internal&external service providers, training sessions...
2. Coordination and implementation of soil investigations and soil remediation including groundwater management .Interim reports to OVAM, soil certificates, follow-up of BSP, etc.Preparing and coordinating fieldwork (sampling labs, engineering offices and UM site managers).Budget management
3. Develop and implement strategies to optimize wastewater management Robust framework for discharge limitsCircular water management and waste water treatmentDesign of self-control program for monitoring (waste) water flows
4. Follow-up of compliance with changing environmental and energy legislation and permits, including setting out vital actions in collaboration with relevant operations & services Based on environmental legislation and existing guidelines, you will investigate the effects of industrial projects on environmental factors such as water, soil, air, noise & people.Coordinate and participate in (cross-departmental) projects with the aim of aligning processes and/or the operation of the service and BUs with legal requirements and permit obligations.Monitoring compliance with environmental and licensing requirements by carrying out regular checks, audits and commissioning at the workplaces.Coordination of periodic - internal (Enhance, OR, CPBW, ...) and external (IMJV etc.) - Environment & Energy reports.Contribute to the development, implementation, application and evaluation of environmentally friendly production methods and products by participating in BREFs, (environmental) feasibility studies and providing training & awareness (internally).
5. Environmental management of hazardous substances Management the dashboard for Hazardous Materials in cooperation with Product Stewards.Coordination of OVR and safety studies relevant for the storage of hazardous substances.Coordination and implementation of the environmental prevention plan for storage and shipment of chemical substances and emergency procedures e.g. the training of intervention teams, the information and training of employees, the organisation and supervision of evacuation exercises, …Management of cooling substances and related greenhouse gas emissions
6. Noise impact (reduction) management Drawing up a management plan to prevent and/or remediate noise nuisance.Steer & management of noise model, periodic noise measurements and noise remediations.
Who we are looking for
7. You have a Master degree in Sciences (environmental sciences, chemistry, biology, …) or equivalent by experience.
8. Proven experience (> 5 years) with environmental subject matter such as soil remediation, circular water use & waste water management, management of dangerous substances (incl. OVR), noise control and permits & environmental reportings in an industrial environment.
9. Accredited degree of Environmental Coördinator - type A (milieucoördinator A)
10. Good experience with ISO management system
11. Broad interest in sustainability
12. You are eager to keep track of the latest legislation and developments in the field of environment
13. Autonomous workdrive and good dedication to problem solutions and results
14. You have an analytical focus
15. Proficient in Dutch and English
