Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect with deep expertise in insurance and reinsurance, including policy administration, underwriting, claims, finance processes, and regulatory compliance to drive the execution of our global technology strategy. In this position, you will apply strong technical acumen and leadership in partnership with business counterparts to effectively define, plan, and support the delivery of technical solutions that support business outcomes in service to Everest's strategy. This role requires an expert-level understanding of modern architecture principles, including event streaming, API-first strategies, domain-driven design (DDD), and cloud-native architectures. And a strong background in insurance finance processes, such as claims processing, coinsurance, bordereaux reporting, reserving, and reinsurance structures (facultative & treaty). Responsibilities include but not limited to:
1. Partner with Business to Modernise Insurance & Reinsurance Platforms • Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and finance teams to understand business challenges and identify modernisation opportunities. • Provide technical leadership in restructuring legacy insurance platforms into modern, cloudbased, event-driven architectures. • Bring expertise from previous enterprise-wide insurance implementations, advising on best-fit integration patterns and architectural approaches. • Ensure that architecture solutions support business growth, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
2. Define & Implement Best-Fit Integration Patterns • Act as a technical advisor, recommending the best integration patterns based on use cases such as real-time claims processing, regulatory reporting, and financial reconciliations. • Architect API-first, event-driven, and microservices-based integration strategies to enhance system scalability and resilience. Public • Implement streaming architectures (Kafka, Event Hubs) for micro batching/real-time data processing between internal and external financial and compliance platforms.
3. Engage with Group-Level Architecture & Engineering Teams • Work closely with architecture teams across the organisation to ensure alignment of technology strategy with broader enterprise goals. • Ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration, sharing knowledge and experience in modern insurance architecture implementations. • Lead the transition from monolithic insurance platforms to loosely coupled, domain-driven microservices architectures. • Architect scalable, cloud-native solutions using Azure. Qualifications, Education & Experience: • 15+ years in enterprise architecture, software engineering, and IT strategy for insurance & reinsurance. • Deep domain knowledge in insurance finance, reinsurance, claims processing, coinsurance, and underwriting workflows. • Proven experience implementing Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter integrations in complex environments. • Expertise in microservices architecture, event-driven systems, API-first integrations, and cloudnative design. • TOGAF-certified Enterprise Architect, with strong experience in SDLC governance and software engineering best practices. • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Event Hubs, Azure Functions, Kubernetes, API Gateways, GraphQL, and CQRS architectures. • Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) are highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies: • Azure Stack: Extensive hands-on experience with Azure services and solutions, including designing, implementing, and managing Azure-based architectures. • API Design: Expertise in designing, building, and managing robust and scalable APIs. • Cloud Patterns: Understanding of security best practices and patterns for cloud environments, including implementing security controls and ensuring compliance with industry standards. • Insurance & Technology Expertise: Deep understanding of insurance and reinsurance processes, including finance operations, claims, underwriting, and regulatory compliance, combined with strong technical architecture skills. • Enterprise Architecture & Modernisation: Experience in modernising legacy insurance platforms, defining enterprise-wide technology strategies, and aligning IT solutions with business needs. Public • System Integration: Ability to design and implement integration strategies that connect finance, claims, underwriting, and regulatory systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation. • Event-Driven & Scalable Architecture: Practical experience with event-driven architecture patterns, ensuring real-time processing of key insurance operations such as claims, bordereaux, and financial settlements. • Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to bridge business and technology teams, providing architectural leadership.
