We are a growing company looking for a Customs Specialist to join our Operations team. Reporting to the Head of Transport you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and compliant flow of goods across international borders by managing all customs-related activities.
Responsibilities
* Customs documentation and processes: Manage all required customs clearance documentation for both incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring full compliance with local and international customs regulations, including tariff classifications, valuation, and duty calculations.
* Continuous improvement & updating of customs processes: Regularly review and refine customs procedures to enhance efficiency. Stay up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, tax laws, and other relevant rules, ensuring that internal processes are updated to align with the latest requirements.
* Analyze performance and optimize customs procedures: Evaluate customs clearance data and performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure the adoption of the most suitable and cost-efficient customs procedures for each country, and develop strategies to strengthen the company’s overall customs clearance operations.
* Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping: Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all customs clearance activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements while facilitating easy access for audits or reviews.
* Collaborate with customs authorities and internal and external stakeholders: Work closely with customs authorities, agents, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders to resolve any customs-related issues efficiently and to ensure the smooth and timely clearance of goods.
* Monitor and enhance operational performance: Proactively evaluate the performance of couriers, recommending improvements to optimize service levels. Monitor delivery times, return processes, and quality KPIs, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration.
* At least 3 - 5 years of experience in the field of customs processes (import, export, customs classification).
* Official title of customs representative, would be a desirable requirement
* Fluent in English, written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong domain of the office package.
* Strong analytical and data drive mindset with problem solving focus.
* Strong ability to understand and interpret legal regulations and standards.
* Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
