Job Description
* Provide proactive, business-oriented legal and regulatory guidance, focusing on cutting-edge areas such as investment services, sustainable finance, capital markets, and the distribution of financial products.
* Deliver expert advice on client legal documentation and effective communication strategies.
* Collaborate closely and constructively with business units, client services, compliance teams, and senior management to address ongoing matters and drive innovative projects.
* Engage actively in banking associations and contribute to both local and international working groups, ensuring your expertise shapes industry standards.
* Maintain a vigilant legal watch, providing timely and insightful updates to your team and the broader organization.
* Establish and maintain essential contacts, ensuring seamless follow-up on any issues with Belgian supervisory authorities.
* Implement strategies effectively within predefined risk appetites and tolerances, safeguarding the organization's interests.
* Oversee and manage comprehensive risk reports, ensuring timely escalation of any identified risks.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Senior Legal Counsel should have:
* At least 5 years of experience in financial law
* Excellent skills in drafting and reviewing legal documents
* Strong ability to manage legal risk
* Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance in the financial services industry
* Adept at handling legal proceedings
* Excellent communication and team player
