ENGIE Global Energy Management & Sales has a global presence with its Short Term activities are organized from 8 offices worldwide. From there we operate the gas & power markets twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
We balance our portfolio and the portfolio of our customers which includes wind and solar, thermal, hydro & storage solutions and will give you a full oversight how physical markets are working and how we are evolving towards a Net Zero Carbon society.
As part of this exciting environment you will be able to fine-tune your skills in a one-stop shop to learn all about: portfolio optimization and operations, contractual complexities and obtain an exhaustive view of the Short Term physical markets.
Context:
Within GEMS, the goal of the business platform Short-term Power as-a-Service (SPaaS) is to deliver services and value for clients on the Short Term Power markets, through strong business expertise and digital experience.
Within SPaaS, the CWE Real-Time Power Dispatching team manages the real-time commitment of the ENGIE power production in Central Western Europe (CWE), meaning Belgium, France, Netherlands and Germany.
We are currently looking for a Real-Time Power Optimizer in Brussels to strengthen our team. Your role will be to monitor and steer the ENGIE portfolio.
Your role :
1. Manage the contractual balance between the total power production and the real off-take of our clients; to keep this balance you will have to interact with the power plant responsible, the sales load forecasting team, and the power Transmission System Operator (TSO);
2. Optimize the portfolio positions and optionality in real time on the imbalance markets and maximize the value of the portfolio e.g. ancillary services contracts towards TSO, supporting the design of intraday activation strategies and provide real-time steering of flexible assets;
3. Intellectually challenging job with a mix of operations and project development;
4. A dynamic and innovative approach within a diversified environment active in multiple countries and multiple technologies;
5. Autonomy and accountability and have the ability to coordinate different stakeholders in the energy landscape.
Hard skills :
6. Any interdisciplinary skills is a must: Engineering, Economical (trading, risk management), Financial (P&L, Reporting) & Digital (Data, Coding, PO);
7. Any knowledge of physical power and gas markets is a plus.
Soft skills :
8. You demonstrate a pragmatic, economic and logical attitude combined with problem solving skills;
9. You are able to perform in a high pace environment with strict deadlines;
10. You are looking forward to collaborate with others and be part of a team;
11. You are eager to learn and discover and you feel encouraged to take initiative;

Education and professional background :
Bachelor or master in relevant studies (Engineering, Economics or Digital)
Professional experience on energy markets and/or digitalization is a plus.
Languages :
You are fluent in Dutch and German.
English and/or French is a plus.
