Job purpose:
1. The Master Black Belt (MBB) is widely recognized as a Lean Six Sigma ‘Senior Matter Expert’ in and outside their business area and has deep understanding and advanced knowledge of the DMAIC methodology, tools and techniques.
2. The MBB, in close collaboration with the senior leadership team members, will identify opportunities to deliver strategic imperatives. They will act as a key driver for the step changes on the Belgian site, developing sustainable capability within the business and realizing significant financial benefit.
3. The MBB uses their expertise to support business areas/functions with the identification, sequencing and scoping of improvement opportunities in unfamiliar situations, to support the delivery of strategic imperatives and financial impact by reduction of variability and simplification of processes through the Lean Six Sigma methodology. They will lead the resolution of the most complex level of problem solves in Belgium and will form part of a small number of MBB’s in Vaccines available to support the highest level of escalations via the Global Operations and Quality Leadership Team.
4. The MBB is the ‘guardian’ of the DMAIC methodology and supports the building and strengthening of the Lean and Six Sigma ecosystem across GIO/Q Belgium (circa 400 people), a critical component of the GPS acceleration.
5. The MBB coaches, develops and strengthens Green & Black Belt capabilities in GIO/Q Belgium to ensure Lean Six Sigma opportunities are executed in the most effective and efficient way.
6. The MBB builds and maintains a global network in the Belgian Vaccines Organisation and broader CI community, and actively connects with the CI Central team to ensure alignment with the Global Standards.
7. The MBB embeds Lean Six Sigma principles in their daily work and actively demonstrates a real CI mindset. They uses their excellent influencing and negotiation skills at all levels of the organisation to support the Change Management required to have sustainable impact and results
Your responsibilities:
8. Support and coach Senior Leaders and CI Team Members during the preparation and application of the Strategy Deployment Process (Hoshin):
9. Convert Operational Strategy and Goals into Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC) initiatives to deliver business requirements
10. Deliver balanced scorecard aspirations while developing Lean Six Sigma capabilities across GIO/Q Belgium
11. Support and coach Senior Leaders and CI Team Members with the identification of both financial and non-financial benefits associated with Lean Six Sigma improvement projects
12. Ensure the timely delivery of project results that meet or exceed agreed metrics or goals
13. Structure identified business issues and challenges
14. Conduct in-depth data analyses (including data collection and synthesis) to generate key insights for projects or Lean deployment strategies.
15. Lead rapid resolution of complex business problems using structured DMAIC problem solving
16. Accelerate the deployment of the Belt Ecosystem:
17. Support GB/BB candidates with the completion of their project charters
18. Mentor and coach GB/BB candidates during their certification projects
19. Properly prepare GB/BB candidates for the Tollgate Reviews organized by the Central CI Team.
20. Support active Belts with scoping, sequencing, tool selection and more complex statistical analyses
21. Actively participate to Lean Six Sigma Capability Building and Knowledge Sharing
22. Act as ‘Guardian’ of the Lean Six Sigma methodology in GIO/Q Belgium and regularly connect with the Central Team to ensure application of the actual Standards
23. Accelerate the GSK Production System (GPS) in line with Lean Six Sigma industry trends to deliver best in class performance
24. Participate and contribute to the different CI Communities by sharing best practices and lessons learned, and by actively presenting and creating content
25. Enable appropriate Change Management on all required levels to ensure sustainable impact of Lean and DMAIC projects:
26. Act as a CI role-model and actively promote GPS and DMAIC problem solving
27. Apply proper stakeholder management and ensure appropriate Sponsorship of DMAIC projects
28. Comfortably operate in a multicultural environment
29. Effectively communicate with all levels in the organization

30. This role reports into the Head of Continuous Improvement Belgium Operations
31. Level of role: Director
32. Business travel requirements: limited (less than 10%)
33. Expected presence onsite: 3 days/week
34. Primary location: Wavre, Belgium
Basic Qualifications:
35. Minimum Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent
36. Minimum 8 years of experience in a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt role in a manufacturing environment or industries such as Pharma, Consumer, Food, Automotive and FMCG
37. Master Black Belt Certified
38. Ability to lead and drive change, matrix leadership
39. Ability to lead and drive improvement initiatives and / or cultural change year on year resulting in both financial and non-financial benefit and behavioural change
40. Ability to influence senior leadership and defend informed recommendations
41. Ability to simplify complex processes, applying innovative thinking
42. Fluency in spoken and written French (must have).
Preferred Qualifications:
43. Highly advanced Lean Six Sigma skills demonstrated in previous projects
44. Solid understanding of supply chain processes and interfaces in a bio-pharma environment
45. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a matrix environment and to navigate with limited supervision to deliver on business results
46. Diagnostic capability to identify improvement opportunities for Lean Six Sigma GB & BB projects
47. Coaching skills
48. Influencing and communication / presentation skills
49. Strong business acumen
