Job Description: Research Associate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified candidate, interested in directly taking part in hit-to-lead drug discovery, who will support our molecular biophysics program. This position is located at our state-of-the-art facility in Leuven. The successful candidate will balance two roles: ensuring the day-to-day running of the laboratory as well as engaging in different research areas of the company, including molecular biology, recombinant protein production and assay development. You will collaborate with a successful team of international senior scientists located in the EU and USA. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, excellent technical skills, and a passion for learning. This candidate will have the opportunity to become part of an exciting, startup company and make significant scientific contributions to numerous drug discovery projects.
Responsibilities:
* Technical support related to molecular biology, protein purification and assay development
* Contribute to laboratory operations, including the ordering of supplies and the maintenance of chemical and reagent inventories
* Protocol and data management using an electronic Lab notebook
* Provide support for routine scientific procedures including media and buffer preparation
* Collects, clean, sterilized and distributes glass and laboratory equipment and coordinates biohazard collections
* Collaborate cross-functionally with other team members to ensure that daily operations and timelines are met.
Education and Experience:
* Professional Bachelor, Postgraduate or Master’s degree in the field of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Chemistry or a similar degree that allows you to fulfill the above-mentioned tasks.
* Previous laboratory experience in the fields of biochemistry and/or molecular biology desired
* Experience in bacterial culture and protein purification is a plus
* Organized with a strong work ethic and the ability to juggle different tasks
* Able to work in a team and willing to present data to our international partners
* Fluent in English
