IT Support Engineer – Overview
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Support Engineer to join our dynamic international operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting a range of hardware and software systems across distributed global locations. You will also act as a key link between clients, development, support, and sales teams to ensure optimal performance and client satisfaction.
IT Support Engineer – Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Maintenance (Global Operations)
* Prepare, install, and maintain IT installations at various distributed locations worldwide.
* Manage and support hardware components such as PCs with fingerprint readers, iris scanners, printers, cameras, document scanners, photo kiosks, servers, VPN routers, switches, batteries, power converters, and solar panels.
* Perform installations in embassies, offices, airports, and mobile locations.
* Assist in setting up and organizing a remotely controlled maintenance infrastructure.
2. Troubleshooting & Testing
* Conduct hardware and software testing and provide second-line support.
* Identify root causes of issues involving databases, configurations, hardware, or other systems.
* Propose and implement viable solutions.
* Coordinate software fixes and improvements with the development team.
* Serve as the interface between the client, development, second-line support, and sales.
3. Presales & Demonstration Support
* Assist the presales team in preparing configurations and live demonstrations of our solutions.
4. Documentation
* Maintain up-to-date documentation on system installations, software tools, and FAQs, primarily via our internal wiki.
5. Production Support (Occasional)
* Occasionally participate in the assembly of mobile PC kits for production.
IT Support Engineer – Required Knowledge & Skills
Technical Skills
* Proficiency in at least one scripting or software programming language.
* Solid understanding of network communication fundamentals (switches, routers, VPNs).
* General knowledge of PC software environments:
* Windows 10
* Linux
* (Optional) Android
Database & Security Knowledge (Preferred)
* Basic experience with Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL databases is a plus.
* Familiarity with security concepts.
* Understanding of automated testing environments is beneficial.
* Background knowledge in electricity and electronics is a bonus.
Tools
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
IT Support Engineer – Language Requirements
* English: Mandatory
* Additional languages are considered an asset due to the international scope of the work.
