Contract role - Contracts Manager
Location - Brussels (Part time role) - No more than one day per week in the office
Our client is looking for a Contract, Legal & Insurance Manager to support on a major engineering construction project.
CANDIDATE MUST BE ABLE TO SPEAK FRENCH AND ENGLISH
The successful candidate will dedicate a significant portion of their time to managing the Delegated Developer Agreement (DDA) and a smaller portion to overseeing governance aspects
This role is essential for ensuring the efficient management of contracts and legal matters within the context of an EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) structure in a project finance framework. The work location is flexible (although many colleagues are working from Brussels and hence candidate should be willing to come to Brussels at least one to two days a week), allowing for remote and/or hybrid arrangements.
Tasks include:
• Oversee the execution of all contracts signed for the construction of the project.
• Supervise contract implementation, including insurance matters, to ensure optimal efficiency and provide necessary training to stakeholders.
• Monitor contract performance and compliance with agreed terms.
• Negotiate and draft contracts, addenda, and other legal documents with suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Manage contractor claims and disputes in close collaboration with the DDA team.
• Provide general legal support for the project.
• Ensure corporate governance compliance, including adherence to shareholder agreements, board governance protocols, and Delegation of Authority (DOA) requirements.
• Handle legal stakeholder management for the project.
• Build and maintain relationships with independent contractors and suppliers relevant to the project.
• Liaise with the Legal Department and external advisors for specialized support when necessary, ensuring transparent and constructive collaboration.
• Regularly report to the Senior Legal Manager regarding progress and issues.
• Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks associated with the project.

• Proven experience in contract management, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
• Knowledge of insurance requirements and risk management in construction projects is an asset.
• Familiarity with corporate governance and shareholder agreements.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with internal teams and external advisors.
