Telenet is looking for a Causal Data Scientist / Econometrist to strengthen the Data department of Telenet, centralizing Telenet’s finest in data and analytics. The Causal Data Scientist / Econometrist will join the Business Insights Discovery team of 6 people, tackling strategic questions on a project basis, aiming to make a meaningful impact.
Role overview:
1. Conduct in-depth data analysis to provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations based on data
2. Focus on explaining why things are happening and what business should do differently
3. Set (causality) standards and improve (causal) data analysis practices within the team
Your responsibilities as a Causal Data Scientist / Econometrist:
4. You take charge of new data problem and sit together with stakeholders to clearly identify the problem and translate it into clear analysis questions and hypothesis
5. You select appropriate analytics techniques and dive into data to find answers
6. You collaborate with team members to find the bigger story and patterns
7. You recognize when the team is getting into causality related questions after which you work together to create solid counterfactuals or test for causality so our conclusions and recommendations are correct
8. You synthesize complex insights into easy to understand and actionable recommendations that resonate with stakeholders
9. You coach, inspire and share best practices related to causal data analysis / econometrics
Our ideal Causal Data Scientist/ Econometrist has:
10. A Master’s degree that trained you in Statistics and Econometrics (such as Econometrics, Business Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Quantitative Social Sciences or equivalent)
11. Solid understanding of what makes good counterfactuals, causal inference. The passion to learn more on this topic and teach others
12. Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data mining techniques (classification, clustering, regression, …)
13. A hands-on mentality to really dive into the data and find the answers
14. Strong data skills with knowledge of at least one coding language (Python, R …). The willingness to learn Python, Pyspark and SQL if not yet proficient
15. Critical thinking and a problem-solving and result-driven mindset. A drive to manage an analytics initiative end to end, including effective storytelling and stakeholder management
16. Fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch/French is a bonus
