As a Test Engineer, you will design, execute, and refine functional tests based on the most effective testing strategies for each specific change. Your responsibilities will also include creating and maintaining test plans, dashboards, and actively contributing to team knowledge development. You will provide insights on future challenges, tackle complex issues, and review the work of your team members.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare thoroughly to ensure high-quality testing of features and stories.
* Analyze and interpret (non-)functional analyses and other technical documentation.
* Collaborate on breaking down features and stories in an agile manner optimized for testing, with a focus on licensing and coding considerations.
* Develop reusable and scalable test scenarios (functional, end-to-end, regression, etc.).
* Build and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts, deciding what should be automated versus tested manually.
* Execute testing with a focus on quality while adhering to sprint and release timelines.
* Record defects effectively and work closely with other team members (e.g., analysts, developers) to address and resolve issues promptly.
* Create updated test scenarios based on recurring defects, incidents, or scope changes.
* Share progress transparently during sprint ceremonies and communicate updates to stakeholders during demos.
* Mentor team members and encourage continuous improvement in the delivery pipeline.
* Simplify and articulate technical testing concepts in complex environments like the banking sector, which includes strict regulatory requirements.
* Actively participate in agile events (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives) under Scrum/SAFe methodologies.
Qualities We Value
We value active listening and teamwork. Candidates who thrive in a collaborative environment and adopt a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset will excel here. We prefer those who focus on delivering results, using clear and straightforward communication over unnecessary complexity.
Flexibility and versatility are also key. When the need arises to step outside your primary role, we value individuals who approach these opportunities with enthusiasm. Initiative, proactivity, transparency, and an entrepreneurial attitude are all essential to succeed in this role.
Required Qualifications
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience in manual and automated testing, with a solid technical foundation (e.g., the ability to read Java code and Swagger documentation).
* Familiarity with Java 17+ (reading and writing skills preferred; migration to Java 21 is underway).
* Proficiency in test automation tools such as Postman, Selenium, and JUnit.
* Strong knowledge of APIs, including SOAP and REST (OpenAPI/Swagger).
* Hands-on experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
* Expertise with IntelliJ, SOAPui, SQL Developer, Jenkins, and other development tools used at Argenta.
* Familiarity with TestNG, XSD, XML, Swaggers, and JSON (preferred).
* Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Zephyr Scale, and Confluence (a strong plus).
* Knowledge of middleware technologies like ActiveMQ or Boomi is advantageous.
* Certification, such as ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, is a plus.
* Dutch Speaker is a must
