Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.

Job Description
Your mission:
Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the World’s first platform to offer true international multi-currency accounts.
Your mission is to scale and enhance how we manage, monitor, and identify opportunities for improvement in our FinCrime risk profile while keeping in mind a customer-centric approach. Driven by a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and regulators’ expectations.
Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the EU Product Compliance and Risk team, in the first line:
1. Developing of the 1LoD FinCrime Risk Monitoring Framework.
2. Further develop the FinCrime monitoring tailored to Wise Europe's products, customer segments, EEA market presence, aligning with regulatory expectations and allowing to identify risk and efficiency trends.
3. Perform root cause analyses on risk and efficiency trends, and recommend control or efficiency improvements, and ensure implementation, that align with regulations, regulator expectations and are customer-centric.
4. Track FinCrime activities at the Wise group level, such as AML/CTF control developments, and identify impact on- or ensure appropriateness for the Wise EU license.
5. Ensure FinCrime issues tracked for the EU entity are well-documented, and accurately reflected in reports.
6. Ensure issues are accurately prioritized, resolved efficiently, and followed up on until closure. Provide pragmatic advice to product teams to guide them effectively in resolving these.
7. Present monitoring outcomes and updates to relevant committees on both EU and group level, including executive management, the regulator, and the Board, as appropriate.
8. Provide detailed updates on remediation programs or issue resolution statuses to keep leadership informed and enable appropriate decision-making.
9. Handle regulatory inquiries on Wise’s FinCrime framework in general, conducting deep-dives on specific cases and delivering high-quality responses.
10. Explain the functionality of controls and the overall FinCrime framework (strategy) in a manner that stands up to regulatory scrutiny.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
1. Steer the design of the first line FinCrime monitoring framework for Wise Europe;
2. Keep compliance right at the heart of the product development cycle, in a fast-moving environment;
3. Be empowered to identify FinCrime problems, areas of improvement opportunities and take a lead in the solution design and implementation.
Qualifications
1. Strong knowledge of Belgian and/or European AML/CTF regulations and National Bank of Belgium (NBB) guidance, including AMLD4 and related directives, as well as the EBA Guidelines on AML/CTF.
2. Analytical thinking and comfortable using BI tools such as Looker.
3. Proven track record in establishing and implementing effective AML/CTF monitoring frameworks.
4. Ability to collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers and Operational teams, providing practical recommendations and steering priorities by influencing product teams with qualitative and quantitative arguments.
5. Excellent communication, project coordination, and management skills.
6. Problem-solving mindset, with experience (or strong interest) in working in a fast-paced, growing environment and directly with product teams.
7. Willingness to travel, as Wise offices are located across multiple countries.
8. Legally authorized to work in the EU (Belgium).
