POLITICO’s events team in Europe is seeking to expand its team dedicated to creating impactful live journalism in dynamic and engaging settings. The Director of Events Production should be driven by a mixture of creativity as well as diligent precision — leading the production team of all POLITICO Live events in Europe. They will ensure the production team keeps an updated catalogue of vendors, negotiate deals with frequent vendors, collaborates with our procurement manager to establish tendering best practices, and operates with smooth and efficient processes internally with other Live and POLITICO colleagues – including our accounts payable department – as well as externally with vendors and clients.
The Production Director is able to conceptualize and manage autonomously the production planning and delivery of strategic POLITICO Live events such as POLITICO 28, Davos, MSC, brand parties and other capstone moments in the political and policy calendar. This includes setting and managing all event production deadlines and ensuring all stakeholders involved in the production process internally and externally are pacing according to plan.
What You'll Do
* Support POLITICO Live by working across internal departments, including editorial, sales, marketing, design, and with clients, speakers, and vendors to plan and produce live and virtual events for the organization.
* Deploy production team resources appropriately to cover various event formats and timelines in concert with the Executive Director.
* Translate the purpose and goals of each event into the event design and experience; help define production standards and lead logistical plans for event experiences tailored to individual organizational needs or client goals for programming like summits, global key moments, single sponsor programs, special sponsor activations, etc.
* Oversee all aspects of POLITICO Live events production, including, but not limited to, venue selection, audio-visual vendors, creative design, budgeting, event load in and out, registration management, speaker booking support, and other needs.
* Manage and adhere to event budgets within target margins and identify opportunities for cost savings.
* Lead and own the strategic event’s production timeline, managed through a project management tool, ensuring the event is delivered within deadlines.
* Brief and coordinate all providers and event staff.
* Coordinate with Client Solutions on client requirements and client logistical briefings (brand plan, client set up, deliveries, etc.) as well as ensuring multiple sponsor’s production objectives are met.
* Work with and brief the design team on each event’s visual identity and output requirements with sustainable deadlines.
* Coordinate set up and logistical delivery on the day.
What You'll Need
* 8+ years of experience in event management and/or production.
* English a must and either French or Dutch a strong plus (for providers). Strong manager and communicator written/verbal.
* A creative force with an attention to detail.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
