The Accounting Manager has the final responsibility for the bookkeeping, the execution of the payments and the accuracy of the accounts (according to the tax and accounting Belgian legislation) for the main entities of Newpharma and its subsidiaries on both a national and international level.
The Accounting Manager also has a strong expertise on tax legislation that he/she follows and applies internally.
The Accounting Manager supervises all the activities of the Accounting department and oversees its team members in order to reach the objectives of the financial department.
He/she directly reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Main responsibilities
Responsibilities for accounting accuracy and process improvements:
* Responsible for the accuracy and the legal deadlines for all the accounting activities;
* In charge of the production & consolidation of the annual accounts of the different legal-accounting entities of the group in order to guarantee an optimal integration of data;
* In charge of the monthly closings respecting legal timings for VAT declarations, ISOC statements and the filling of annual accounts;
* Development and improvement of the accounting processes to guarantee high-quality and on-time monthly closings;
* Lead on improvement projects to implement new accounting rules and/or systems to ensure efficient delivery of services;
* In collaboration with the CFO, optimization of the closing processes;
* Solving complex accounting problems and providing advice on analytical accounting to the CFO;
* Identification of solutions for process improvements and anticipation regarding difficulties related to internal control;
* Informing and advising the business on new tax legislation, tax obligations and implications of various services/products in order to provide tax information to the other departments;
* Responsibility for the relations with external auditors.
Responsibilities for tax activities:
* Validating raw data for the various tax declarations in order to ensure legal compliance and avoid possible fines;
* Preparing reports (corporate tax, VAT declarations, etc.) to provide the required information to the tax authorities;
* Monitoring and analyzing tax legislation, determining its impact through simulations in order to gain insight into possible tax optimization for the organization and to recommend new tax strategies;
* Providing reliable and high quality information to CFO and general management regarding compliance with tax regulations in order to recommend strategic decisions.
Involvement in the accounting operational tasks in collaboration with the team:
* Encoding the daily accounting and maintaining it up to date;
* Managing the monthly accounting closing;
* Being in charge of establishing the monthly VAT;
* Being in charge of all the administrative tasks related to accounting (provisions, filling of VAT declarations, OD management for the closings, depreciation tables, follow-up of refunds, follow-up of the expense reports, … );
* Being responsible for the reporting towards the CFO.
Management of the Accounting team:
* Coordinating and organizing the different activities of the department according to the priorities and competences of each person and according to the needs of the organization, in order to provide an efficient service that meets the deadlines and the quality requirements of the company;
* Acting as a leader and a referent for the accounting team with whom knowledge is shared;
* Coaching, developing, motivating and evaluating the team of accountants and accounting assistants in the department;
* Defining strategical objectives, KPI’s, priorities of the accounting team and making sure that there are being followed;
* Keeping the team informed on changes and developments in the field of accounting/taxation and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes within the department.
EDUCATION : Academic degree in Accounting.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Min. 6-8 years experience as a Manager.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS :
* In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting legislation;
* Knowledge in corporate law and banking relations;
* Expertise in the Belgian tax system (VAT & ISOC) and as well as in the realization of annual accounts;
* Experience in team Management;
* Experience in project Management;
* Strong analytical mind;
* Excellent knowledge of accounting softwares (ex: ISABEL, BOB, …);
* Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel);
* Knowledge of PowerBI;
* Results-driven and always looking for challenges to accomplish;
* Proactive and a hands-on attitude;
* Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills;
* Fluent knowledge of English;
* Team-player and business-oriented.
