Apply locations Belgium posted on Posted 3 Days Ago job requisition id R0003577 As Category Buyer within the Distribution Logistics procurement category at DEME Group, you will develop and implement sourcing strategies for a defined set of services, including air and sea freight shipments, road transport, and courier express shipments. You will also be responsible for managing customs agents—this includes identifying, appointing, and negotiating agreements, in close collaboration with the DEME Customs team.
You will lead the management of a portfolio of preferred suppliers, develop a deep understanding of the market, collaborate with internal stakeholders to find optimal solutions, and promote procurement best practices within the organization. This position is based primarily at our HQ in Zwijndrecht, Belgium.
Your responsibilities
* Build and maintain a network of reliable, financially stable suppliers;
* Develop category strategies and identify opportunities to optimize the supply chain process;
* Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (business units, projects, etc.) and participate in cross-functional teams for sourcing projects and continuous improvement;
* Ensure DEME’s distribution logistics needs are met by managing a network of trusted suppliers and subcontractors;
* Oversee the entire purchasing process: request for quotations, invitations to tender, offer comparison, negotiation of terms and conditions, and contract drafting;
* Lead high-value purchases, aiming for total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions;
* Ensure compliance with internal/external sourcing procedures and contracts;
* Negotiate, draft, and manage sourcing contracts, service level agreements, price lists, etc.;
* Maintain supplier standards for price competitiveness, product quality, delivery performance, safety, and sustainability. Initiate corrective actions when necessary;
* Conduct root cause analysis of recurring supply issues and lead the implementation of corrective actions for operational challenges;
* You will report to the Category Manager - Distribution Logistics.
Your profile
* Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration / Applied Economics or Supply Chain Management;
* Relevant work experience in a procurement role is a plus;
* Good commercial and negotiation skills;
* Fluent in English & Dutch. Other languages is an asset;
* Team player with a positive attitude, hands-on mentality and high level of integrity;
