Position: Finance Manager
* Start Date: Immediate
* Work Mode: Flexible
* Employment Type: Fulltime
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to transition into a head of finance role in a fast-growing startup.
Fuse is a Belgian startup focused on transforming urban spaces for students and young professionals by identifying underutilised properties and turning them into dynamic living environments with online communities and real life events.
We have found a strong product-market fit by combining housing, community, and events. As we expand across Europe, our footprint now includes cities like Antwerp, Brussels, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Warsaw, Krakow, and Riga.
Your Role:
As Finance Manager, you will be a key member of our central team based in Antwerp, responsible for ensuring the financial health, compliance, and operational execution across the group. While this role includes oversight of financial reporting, it is less focused on classic controlling, as each of our operating countries has its own local accountants. Instead, your responsibility will be to coordinate with those local teams, ensure accuracy and compliance, and drive financial operations and oversight centrally.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role that combines operational finance, strategic planning, and real estate underwriting. You will support the founders in financial decision-making, oversee day-to-day financial operations, and help evaluate potential real estate acquisitions and leases from a financial perspective.
As the company grows, your role will evolve toward strategic financial leadership—including fundraising, investor relations, and high-level financial planning.
Your Responsibilities Include:
* Financial Oversight & Coordination – Oversee and validate financial reporting across multiple entities by working closely with local accountants. Ensure consistency, compliance, and transparency in financial data across jurisdictions.
* Operational Finance – Manage accounts payable and receivable, payment execution, salary disbursements, and expense compliance. Ensure internal checks and controls are followed across all financial operations.
* Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) – Build and maintain cash flow models, budgets, and forecasts. Analyze performance and deliver actionable financial insights to support strategic decisions.
* Real Estate Underwriting & Deal Support – Assess the financial viability of leasing and acquisition opportunities. Support the underwriting process, perform property financial evaluations, and contribute to investment decision-making.
* Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure tax filings, audits, and other compliance obligations are met. Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
* Strategic Finance – Support fundraising and capital planning by developing financial models, investor reports, and due diligence materials.
* Leadership & Growth – Work alongside the founders to scale the business. Over time, build and lead a finance team capable of supporting our international expansion.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience & Background – 3+ years in finance, accounting, or financial operations. Experience in real estate, private equity, or investment analysis is highly preferred.
* Real Estate Acumen – Familiarity with property underwriting, acquisition modeling, and lease analysis. Experience evaluating real estate investments is a strong asset.
* Operational Rigor – You’re not afraid to get into the weeds. You understand that running a solid finance operation means keeping a close eye on payments, receivables, payroll, and internal approvals.
* Collaborative Mindset – Comfortable working with external accountants and local teams across jurisdictions, aligning them with central processes and standards.
* Financial Expertise – Strong skills in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting. Familiarity with tools like NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks is a plus.
* Strategic Thinking – Ability to zoom out and contribute to long-term business and fundraising strategy.
* Growth Potential – Ambition to grow into a CFO role over time, taking on investor relations and capital planning as the company scales.
Bonus Points:
* Experience in a real estate fund, or private equity environment
* Exposure to M&A, structured finance, or capital markets
* Financial certifications (CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent)
