Job purpose:
* Lead the project delivery process for the automation portfolio projects, from typically Feasibility stage to Hand-over and Close-out to ensure an outcome which meets all the defined project objectives for cost, schedule, quality, safety and environment and delivers the business benefits.
* Accountable for the execution of the Automation Roadmap covering all aspect in the lifecycle of the automation from inception up to obsolescence to meet strategic objectives for Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux sites.
* As key business partner for the Operational Automation team, the role ensures the Business alignment, planning, prioritization, approval, and outcome forecasting and depreciation impacts of the capital plan of the business you are in charge of, including the small size projects managed by the Automation team themselves.
Your responsibilities:
As the Head of Capital Projects Automation, you
* Have the overall accountability of the automation portfolio of projects in Belgium Sites
* Define and decide the final project budgets and schedules worked out by Project Managers. Lead the process of projects business cases preparation and ensure submission to the BCR (Belgium Capital Review) and higher capital governances in Vaccines and GSC
* Design the project organization structure & drive project teams capacity management. Monitor, appraise, and upgrade individual and team performance as required to assure project success. Install a proactive, “can do” attitude within the project and purveys a “preventive rather than corrective” mentality
* Drive the Project Execution Plan process, documenting the project delivery strategy and the success criteria according to the Project Management Framework (PMF). Establish a Quality Plan for the project and is proactive in planning for quality
* Prepare monthly progress reports according to the PMF. Inform and/or escalate critical issues that could jeopardize projects success to the Steering Group and Sponsors
* Develop a risk management strategy for the project and implement associated processes and tools to ensure effective identification, monitoring and management of project risk
* Lead the qualification of the engineering services providers and decide and direct the appropriate contractual strategy. Use proven selection processes to develop the appropriate contract strategy for the project, select and manage contractors and settle any claims in accordance with company policy
* Implement strict project and financial controls, including procedures for change control / management, cost control / forecasting, physical progress / productivity measurement, and invoice review / payment
* Ensure that the overall CSV & handover strategy that fully complies with the PMF and implement to ensure a timely and complete handover to the Customer.
Accountability:
* Lead the project teams managing Site automation projects and managing the automation scope in Major CAPEX PIP’s and ensure that adequate works relating to design, procurement, development, validation, hand-over and close-out have been delivered with the defined projects objectives
* Support and influence the operational automation teams in the management of the Belgium automation portfolio Leadership
Leadership:
* Lead and motivate empowered teams where decisions are taken at the lowest practical level to achieve individual and company objectives. Adopt performance management and accountability processes to drive projects delivery, ensuring visible targets to all team members
* Recruit, train and motivate staff to ensure skill set meets current and future business demands providing technical coaching and training plans as required
* Ensure the retention, engagement and development of key talents within the project managers.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Bachelor degree in Engineering, Mechanical and process engineering
* Minimum 10 years of experience in Capital Projects applied to the Manufacturing and Automation domain
* Knowledge of project management and technologies processes
* Demonstrate technical credibility to effectively interface with, and influence key opinion leaders within GSK in Belgium
* Leadership and influencing skills
* Inspiring leader who develops people
* Demonstrate effective communication skills
* Ability to make complex decisions with sound judgement
* Fluency in French and English – both spoken and written
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
* Qualified engineer or Master’s degree in Mechanical and process engineering
* Minimum 10 years of experience in Capital Projects applied to the Manufacturing and Automation domain in the Pharmaceutical industry
* Project Management certification
