We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and execute engineering activities for a large-scale transformation project in Belgium. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in automation systems, logistics engineering, and cross-functional leadership, with a proven track record in Industry 4.0 environments. You will manage on-site engineering operations, propose cutting-edge solutions, ensure compliance, and drive the successful delivery of automation initiatives.
Project information:
* Duration: A few months to begin with but overall long term

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop business cases, timelines, resource plans, and budgets for automation-related initiatives.
* Design and implement state-of-the-art automation systems aligned with Industry 4.0 and digital transformation strategies.
* Oversee on-site engineering activities, minimize downtime, and optimize operational flow.
* Lead cost-reduction and efficiency programs using Lean, Six Sigma, and smart technologies (IoT, AI/ML, digital twins).
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of projects.
* Partner with IT and technical teams to meet infrastructure and system integration needs.
* Ensure validation, compliance, and quality standards across all engineering activities.
* Actively manage project risks, interdependencies, and communication with stakeholders.
Requirements:
* At least 8 years of experience
* Strong background in warehouse automation (e.g. Autostore, Shuttle, MHE, WCS, WMS).
* Knowledge of control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA), and smart tech (edge computing, AI/ML).
* Solid financial and digital acumen; skilled in project planning (PERT/GANTT) and budget control.
* Experience in highly automated, high-volume distribution systems.
* Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, UAT, and ERP systems.
* Excellent team leadership, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Fluent in English
