Robotic sensing expert and researcher
Are you a robotic sensing expert, with a passion for sensors, 3d scanning and computer vision? Are you a talented innovator looking to join an international and multidisciplinary research team based in Barcelona? If yes, have a look at the new position of Robotic sensing expert and researcher at IAAC, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC).
In this role you will have the opportunity to delve into research and educational projects that apply robotics, computer vision and machine learning for analytical and creative processes in construction. Together with our multidisciplinary team we aim to make buildings more sustainable, affordable and beautiful. As a robotic sensor expert, you will be tasked with developing custom software and hardware solutions, automating data processing, and combining it with autonomous navigation and robotic fabrication. You will also impart teaching activities, where the learning from the research will be shared with students and professionals, in particular within the Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction (MRAC) at IAAC. Your work will entail a close collaboration with architects, engineers, computational designers, roboticists, fabrication experts, and craftspeople.
Main Tasks:
* Research on novel robotic sensing applications
* Teaching to master students & professionals.
* Development of applied research and Industrial applications.
* Technical support in related academic, research and professional projects.

* Building Scanning & Analysis
* Sensing applications in Manufacturing
* Autonomous robotics navigation (rover & drones)
* Human-Machine Interaction
* Robotic & Digital Fabrication for sustainable construction.
Skills required
* Willing to learn, motivated, enthusiastic and social.
* Motivated to work in an innovative, multidisciplinary, and collaborative environment.
* Autonomous, able to take on responsibilities.
* Knowledgeable in cameras, perception sensors and robotics
* Confident with programming (Python, C++, ROS, Linux,...)
* Experience working with 2D and 3D computer vision libraries, dataset and AI models.
* Previous experience in Academia or Industry
Optional skills
* Familiarity with Digital & Robotic Fabrication.
* Familiarity with Architecture, Design & Art
* Travel enthusiast (in Europe or in the world).
Other requirements
* Education Level: Master Degree equivalent or higher
* Permit : Candidate should hold a full work permit for Spain
* Language : Fluent English speaker + Spanish ideal.
Benefits
* Permanent contract
* Full-time position (40 h week, from Monday to Friday) in Barcelona.
* Salary: 27,000.00 –32,000.00 € per annum, according to experience.

About MRAC
IAAC’s Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction (1 or 2-year program) seeks to train a new generation of interdisciplinary professionals, capable of facing our growing need for a more sustainable and optimized construction eco-system. The Master is focused on the emerging design and market opportunities arising from novel robotic and advanced manufacturing systems.
Through a combination of seminars, workshops and studio projects, the Master in Robotics & Advanced Construction challenges the traditional processes in the Construction Sector. It investigates how advances in robotics and digital fabrication tools change the way we build and develop processes and design tools for such new production methods.
