Credendo Guarantees & Speciality Risks (Credendo GSR) is a part of Credendo Group, specializing in three types of products: Credit Insurance, Surety and Single Risk and provides support to customers through its branches spread across Europe.
Credendo GSR’s mission is to support trade relations. We provide customised solutions of credit insurance, surety and single risks related to domestic and international trade transactions. We protect companies, banks and insurance undertakings against credit and political risks, and facilitate the financing of such transactions.
About the role
As a Surety Underwriter at Credendo GSR, you will be analysing surety risks, performing financial analysis and take action in order to maximise the support to clients while minimising potential losses for the company. You will explore the surety market and detect business opportunities.
What you will do
* managing and developing relations with clients in order to detect business opportunities, anticipate the clients’ needs and manage the clients’ expectations,
* being responsible for the underwriting, contracts and bonds management and risk monitoring process (collection, analysis and integration of information) in order to elaborate business or risk mitigating proposals for the appropriate decision level,
* recommend an appropriate premium to take on that level of risk in line with Credendo GSR's risk appetite, underwriting guidelines and best practices or drawing up recommendations to higher approval authorities,
* negotiating with clients, brokers and/or other parties in order to derive appropriate solutions aligned with both the needs of the clients and the company’s values,
* issuing the bonds in case of a standard and non-standard wording in line with actual Underwriting Guidelines for Surety and existing general agreements,
* providing technical input for the development of new or revised products to improve business adequacy,
* taking part in the decision-making process, either as an autonomous decision-maker or as a provider of material for the appropriate decision-making bodies, in order to ascertain the company’s position,
* ensuring that the necessary steps (such as issuance of contractual documents) are taken or directly taking those steps in order to execute the decision,
* proactively following-up the requests to be able to control and/or mitigate the risk during the whole insurance cycle, including during a (potential) claims phase,
* make use of the group's information on macro- and microeconomic situations of regions and countries, in order to assess the conditions under which the debtors do business and gain insight into how a country or sector's characteristics can influence the debtor's risk profile,
* identifying and monitoring economic and legal trends that can influence the financial risk of supported companies and makeproposals of how to translate this into underwriting strategy for different sectors and product profiles.
What we expect?
* university degree (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business Science),
* 2+ years proven working experience as Underwriter with experience in completion guarantees under Breyne Act,
* comfortable with IT tools,
* fluent English and C2 level in Dutch,
* knowledge of financial analysis,
* very good analytical skills,
* ability to interpret and integrate very diverse information,
* basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices
* high attention to detail, accuracy and good judgement
* negotiation and interpersonal skills
* advanced computer skills on MS Office
