Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company’s cost accounting records and processes. The successful candidate will oversee cost accounting functions, including production-related costs, inventory valuation, and cost of sales calculations. Additionally, this position will support the maintenance of the company’s accounting structure, system, and month-end closing procedures. The Cost Accountant will collaborate closely with the accounting team in Herentals, administrative personnel in sales offices, and the cost accountant in Blue Springs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting:
* Maintain standard costs, weighted average, or FIFO cost flow assumptions within the business system.
* Play a key role in the new item setup process and evaluate routing, purchasing, and other information impacting systematic cost calculations.
* Perform month-end close tasks related to work order closures, variance accounting, manufacturing cost analysis, and inventory reconciliation.
* Serve as a subject matter expert in costing and inventory processes within the business system.
* Collaborate with the Operations team to support lean initiatives by analyzing relevant data and understanding manufacturing process impacts on costs and inventory.
* Assist in continuous process improvements to enhance costing systems and reduce costs.
* Conduct physical inventory counts, analyze count discrepancies, and adjust inventory balances accordingly.
* Assess inventory for obsolescence, record adjustments to reserves, and monitor scrap activity for potential impacts.
* Identify inaccuracies in inventory or cost of sales transactions and work with relevant teams to mitigate risks.
General Accounting:
* Support the monthly closing process, including account analysis and reconciliation.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in closing, reporting, and other processes.
* Document internal controls, policies, and procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality of all processed information.
* Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent through experience.
* 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Familiarity with cost reduction strategies and financial analysis.
* Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in spreadsheet software and ERP systems.
Preferred:
* Experience with JD Edwards Business System.
* International accounting experience.
* Knowledge of process improvement techniques and methods.
* Exposure to Salesforce and RootStock.
