Global Head of Sustainability / Chief Sustainability
The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is a high-level executive responsible for leading an organization's sustainability efforts. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the company operates in an environmentally and socially responsible way, while still achieving its business goals.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the organization's mission, values, and long-term goals.
* Collaborate with various departments across the organization to identify and implement sustainability initiatives. This may involve areas like operations, supply chain, product design, and marketing.
* Oversee the company's environmental impact, including energy use, waste generation, and water consumption. Develop plans to reduce the footprint and improve resource efficiency.
* Manage sustainability-related budgets, including cost analysis and forecasting, to ensure initiatives are financially viable.
* Track and report on the organization's sustainability performance, using relevant metrics and benchmarks.
* Stay up-to-date on the latest sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices.
* Advocate for sustainability within the organization, fostering a culture of environmental and social responsibility.
* Lead and manage a team of sustainability professionals (if applicable).
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, regulators, NGOs, and industry groups.
* Represent the organization on sustainability issues at industry events and conferences.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in business administration, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field (preferred).
* 10+ years of experience in sustainability leadership or a related field.
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability programs.
* Strong understanding of environmental regulations and best practices.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* The ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
