Position Overview
CropLife International is seeking an accomplished Director of Communication who has a minimum of 10 years of experience, ideally in a leadership role within a company or association. The Director of Communication will work in a motivated team of advocacy and communications professionals, contributing to global outreach campaigns. They are responsible for message development, media relations, and internal and external communications with members and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work in an exciting international environment, with member associations on all continents. They will need to have a strong track record in transforming scientific and policy information into powerful messages that have impact with a wide range of audiences.
Areas of Responsibility
1. Set and guide the strategy for all communication activities, including issue management, media relations, and proactive positioning of CropLife International (CLI).
2. Ensure that CropLife International is viewed as a trusted source of information and disseminator of information to the organization’s international network and external stakeholders.
3. Work closely with the President and CEO as well as with the senior leadership team within CLI on strategic communication in support of policy and advocacy initiatives.
4. Lead the generation of online content that engages different audience segments and leads to measurable action.
5. Organize outreach events, such as side events at meetings of international organizations.
6. Analyze and test the effectiveness of all CLI’s communications activities.
7. Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of the association’s newsletters, brochures, social media, and public website.
8. Manage all media relations and act as a spokesperson as directed by the CEO and President.

Required Competences
1. 10+ years of experience in a senior communication function, preferably with global advocacy communications.
2. Expert in developing and implementing communications strategies.
3. Outstanding writing/editing and verbal communication skills in English.
4. A strong track record as an ‘implementer’ who thrives on managing a variety of initiatives simultaneously.
5. Relationship builder and diplomat with the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
6. Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
