Scientist - Characterization expert in colloidal and nanoparticulate systemsPurpose:The scientist will join the Advanced Materials Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within Analytical Development. AMCI is an international and diverse team of scientists performing advanced analytical characterization of pharmaceutical products and leading global analytical investigations for the commercial product portfolio and for the Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organization.Join our team as a Senior Scientist specializing in Particle Technology. In this lab-based role, you will have the exciting opportunity to characterize particulate systems, focusing on colloidal suspensions, peptides, gels and liposomal drug product formulationsYou will be responsible for:Study nanoparticulate and colloidal systems such as nanocrystalline suspensions, oligonucleotides, (hydro)gels, micellar and self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SMEDDS), liposomes, etc. with state of the art analytical technologies and collaborate with CMC and drug product development teams to design the best product and process to meet the therapeutic product profileDevelop as subject matter expert, design, lead and perform experiments in the analytical development for colloidal systemsApply state-of–the art science to ensure a targeted approach to problem solving and delivering relevant resultsWork in a multidisciplinary team of researchers and show willingness to learn/explore new techniquesAct quickly, lead and provide expertise and solutions for investigations on commercial productsDevelop test procedures and write scientific and investigations reportsEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP and safetyStay up to date with the scientific literatureInitiate and follow up collaboration with external partners and universitiesProvide input to investment plans to consolidate (and expand) capabilitiesQualifications / Requirements:Education & ExperiencePhD in Chemical (Bio)Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent by experience in a relevant area.Expert in state of the art analytical techniques to study nanoparticulate and colloidal systems such as, scattering techniques (DLS, SAXS, (SEC)-MALS), zeta potential, (electron) microscopy, sedimentation and turbidity related technologies, rheology, flow imaging etc.Knowledge on colloidal stability and factors that influence stabilityGood background on preparing dispersions, tailoring dispersion stability and the relation of particulate and dispersion properties to suspension rheologyEnsure high scientific quality standards for experiments and take responsibility for the resultsYou have good project management skills as well as communication skills (oral and written) allowing effective interactions with all levels of the organization.You are a team player, able to work in matrix teams and Fluent English (both spoken and written).CompetenciesFast learner with scientific curiosity, self-steering, pro-active, creative.Open-minded, with ability to work together as one team in a global environment.Good written and spoken communication and presentation skills in English.Efficient, flexible, dynamic, results and performance driven.
