Job purpose:
* Lead, develop, nurture and sustain a Global Project Management group for the Global Capital Projects portfolio for Vaccines in Belgium delivering a critically important, capital investment portfolio to support GSK growth ambitions and the needs of continuing compliant manufacturing, that support billions of sales.
* Develop, direct and support multiple project teams in different geographies, able to deliver safe, on time and on budget projects at the quality required by the business.
* Support Supply Chains and Manufacturing Groups to define their ongoing capital needs and guide and support the delivery of their local capital projects.
* Ensure compliance with Finance, Regulatory and Ethical best practice in project delivery.
* Support, coach and mentor project management practitioners in the supply chain, to improve and support the delivery of their projects.
* Visible leadership within the project management by acting as an advocate of capital project best practice as a member of the GCP Leadership Team.
* Ensure that GSK’s safety ambitions are met, through demonstrating commitment to zero accidents or incidents and act as exemplar of best practice.
Your responsibilities:
* Full accountability for delivery of the capital plan for area of responsibility, which may flex over time, in line with the capital plan and complexities.
* Management of the project management group, directing multiple project teams, managers and associated project delivery staff.
* Direction of the delivery strategy for the projects comprising the portfolios.
* Ensuring that project strategies are well matched to safe and secure delivery in the geography the project is being delivered in.
* Development and delivery of an annual business and improvement plan to meet the business demands whilst improving safety, reliability and cost efficiency of delivery.
* Act as an escalation and expert resource for all project issues and challenges.
* Represent the project on key strategy and steering teams and in GSC level meetings on strategy and delivery.
* Ensure compliant delivery and direct assurance processes to ensure all requirements for safe, secure and ethical practice are in place and in operation.
* Represent GSK and the project with external bodies at the highest level.
* Research, seek and drive the latest Design and Construction Technology (Modularization, Componentization, Engineering Data Management, Digital delivery) – exploiting them to maximize the short and long term quality, safety and financial benefit.
* Understand the impact of cGMP on the design & delivery of projects and ensure alignment with all regulatory requirements and the QMS.
* Manage the group in a collaborative and supportive way, exhibiting all the expected behaviors of a senior GSK leader.
* Act as a visible advocate for diversity in engineering and project delivery.
* As a visible advocate for GSK Safety Life Saving Rules.

* Number of positions available: 1
* People management (direct/indirect reports, etc.): up to 10 DR – 200+ IR
* Project managed: 5 – 10 / value £500m - £1b
* Operating Budget Accountability: £12m
* Business travel requirements: 10-15%
* Primary location: Wavre (Belgium)
* Secondary location: the successful candidate should be located close to GSK strategic locations (manufacturing site, R&D hub, etc.).

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Minimum BA Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Project Management in capital
* Minimum 15 years plus experience in design and delivery of high-tech science projects
* Direct experience of delivering complex construction projects
* Understanding of the capital project lifecycle from Design to Operation
* Understanding of the economics and commercial realities of construction and contracting
* Named project manager in multiple projects that delivered built completed and handed over facilities
* Direction of multiple projects as either a Programme Manager or as a Project Group Lead
* Experience in leading projects in global and diverse cultures
* Likely to have lived overseas
* Fluency in English - written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
* MA Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Project Management in capital
* Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.), EU (Eur Ing) or US registered Professional Engineer (PE)
* A member of an Engineering Institution (eg MIChemE, MIET, MIMechE) or Project Management Body (APM, iPMA)
* Knowledge and expertise in capital project leadership, including formulating goals and strategies
* Understanding of the global supply chain for pharmaceuticals capital services, including engineering, construction, process equipment and construction management
* Practiced in stage-gate review process, formalized project management processes in capital and engineering assurance
* Commercial understanding and awareness of procurement best practice
* Deep understanding of the construction industry and how projects are delivered in the pharmaceutical industry
* Experience in how to plan projects that deliver zero accidents
* Able to work in a matrixed environment and across different geographies
* Understand the changing lifecycle of facilities and the changes in base investments required to maintain supply chain assets as technologies change.
* Experience in working in a global leadership team
* Experience in leading and supporting the development of a global function and the attraction, retention and development activities that support it.
* The role is truly global. Current areas of operation include China, India, Malaysia, Middle East, Africa, EU and the Americas.
* As this is truly a global role, experience of how investments change by geography and an understanding and appreciation of trends and regional and local capabilities to be able to adapt solutions and focus design and execution strategies to be successful
* Fluency in French - written and spoken
