GIRP, the European Healthcare Distribution Association, is the umbrella organisation for pharmaceutical full-line wholesalers in Europe. We represent national associations across 34 European countries, as well as major international and pan-European healthcare distribution companies.
About the role
The Communications Director is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's communication strategy to enhance its public image, drive engagement, and ensure clear and consistent messaging across all platforms. This leadership role requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a team to execute effective campaigns.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communication & Branding:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
* Oversee brand management, ensuring consistent messaging, visual identity, and tone across all channels.
* Identify and capitalize on opportunities to strengthen the organization’s public profile.
Media Relations & Public Affairs:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and key stakeholders.
* Act as the organization's spokesperson when needed, providing media responses and interviews.
* Draft and distribute press releases, opinion pieces, and media statements.
* Monitor media coverage and manage crisis communication strategies when necessary.
Digital & Social Media Management:
* Oversee digital communication strategies, including website content, newsletters, and social media channels.
* Develop content strategies to enhance audience engagement and visibility.
* Analyze digital analytics and implement improvements to maximize impact.
Internal & Stakeholder Communications:
* Ensure clear and effective internal communication across departments.
* Support senior leadership in delivering key messages to employees and stakeholders.
* Develop communication materials, including reports, speeches, presentations, and newsletters.
Campaigns & Events:
* Lead communication efforts for major campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives.
* Coordinate with different teams to ensure alignment in messaging and outreach strategies.
* Manage partnerships and collaborations with external stakeholders, agencies, and sponsors.
Management & Budgeting:
* Lead and manage a communication team, providing strategic direction and support.
* Oversee communication budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
* Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
* 5-7 years proven experience in political and organisational communication;
* Fluent in English (other European languages are an asset);
* Experience working with external service providers, having worked in communications consultancy;
* Experience in developing a narrative and bringing it to life via strategic planning and execution;
* Sense of responsibility and ability to take initiative;
* An eye for detail and accuracy in both language and visual presentation;
* Proven experience in MS Office, InDesign, Canva, and other relevant software.
