Context of the recruitment
Trescal is a major player in calibration services and provides “one-stop shop” services on test and measurement (T&M) equipment including verification, calibration and repair.
The Group realizes nearly €530 M of sales in Europe, the Americas and in Asia Pacific. It aims to double its size by 2027, organically and by acquisitions.
It has historically built a leadership position in Belgium and Netherlands reaching €54 M sales and €12 M EBITDA. It intends to continue growing in the zone both in Sales and EBITDA organically and via external acquisitions.
Ambition is to reach €70 M of revenues by the year 2027.
Trescal is now looking for a new CFO to provide financial support to the General Manager and to continuously improve our finance department.
Primary purpose of the Role
Responsible for all financial aspects of BNL operations;
1. Ensure all local statutory compliances are executed in due time (accounting, tax, legal, and social in coordination with the HR manager);
2. Provide leadership and coordination in the finance department, analyse and interpret financial and operational data trends and provide insight and recommendations to Trescal BNL management.
3. Insure proper management of cash across the zone;
4. Insure a rapid integration of all new acquisitions, from a finance perspective;
Reports to BNL General Manager but with a strong dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer of the Northern Europe Region;
Main roles and responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Controls and Compliance:
1. Ensure all statutory and contractual obligations are properly fulfilled and that changes in local regulations are properly anticipated and implemented;
2. Ensure Group accounting policies and procedures are enforced in all countries;
3. Ensure any additional required policies and procedures are developed, as needed, in coordination with Trescal Corporate Finance;
4. Oversee the coordination and activities of external auditors and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with local GAAP and IFRS;
5. Overall, you ensure compliance with anti-fraud, anti-sanctions, procedures, as listed by the Group or required locally in all Countries;
Organization:
1. Bring clarity to the roles and responsibilities of the Finance team;
2. Cost optimization of the structure - ensure effectiveness of the shared service centre implemented in Belgium covering the region;
3. Train the Finance teams and other operational staff across the region to raise awareness and knowledge of financial management matters;
Transformation of finance procedures:
1. Optimising financial procedures and implementing possible RPA solutions (including the automation, of the invoicing process);
2. Implement Microsoft Business Central (Exact system used today in 3 legal entities);
3. Participate or take the lead on the extension of the shared service center covering countries outside of the BNL zone, within Northern Europe;
Planning, monitoring and reporting:
1. Analyse and report on trends, opportunities for EBITDA and FCF growth;
2. Pinpoint potential weak areas and implement corrective action plans;
3. Implement strong controls and understanding of staff cost variations;
4. Guarantee preparation of all reporting for all countries/entities of the BNL region:
1. Statutory, contractual and internal recurrent or ad hoc reporting;
2. Monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, Free Cash Flow and non-financial KPIs reporting to the Group;
3. Quarterly reporting for Consolidation purposes;
5. Prepare monthly Business Review with assistance / cooperation of local Finance teams and Business Managers;
Cash Management:
1. Ensure a strong and robust cash management process exists across all entities of the BNL region, including a cash flow forecast;
2. Manage the Working Capital Requirement, with a strong focus on DSO, ensuring actions are taken to permanently optimize DSO;
Acquisitions:
1. Ensure that all acquisitions are rapidly integrated into the Trescal Finance systems and comply with internal policies;
2. Perform all integration steps in total autonomy or coordinate the support of external auditors to whom it would be delegated (completion accounts, opening balances, historical trial balances, …);
3. Assist / lead management in operation integration;
Operations:
1. Participate in key decisions as a member of the Management Committee team;
2. Interact regularly with other managers of the management team to provide support and initiatives through financial analyses, reports, and recommendations;
Risk Management:
1. Be the interface to the Northern Europe CFO and Group Finance Department (CFO, FP&A, Legal Manager and Treasurer) to ensure all information is shared so that the local entities comply with all legal requirements, statutory and Internal;
2. To support local Management in contractual review according to Group procedures;
3. To help the Group Finance team to mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile;
4. To help the Group Finance team to monitor all open legal issues involving the company and maintain appropriate insurance coverage;
5. To train employees on legal contractual matters to ensure compliance with Group risk policy;
Experience and Skills
1. Minimum 10 years of Controlling / Business Partner experience in divisions of a large international group;
2. First experience in an audit firm (Big 4) strongly preferred;
3. Experience as statutory CFO in a company > €40 M is mandatory;
4. Analytical aptitude. Advanced analytics to fuel decision-making;
5. Business Intelligence;
6. Comfortable with most recent analytical tools;
7. Leadership skills: Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects;
8. Strong level of written and oral communication skills with ability to participate in and facilitate transverse projects;
9. Strong intercultural skills as this is a multicultural role;
10. Languages: Dutch and English, French is a plus but not mandatory;
11. Master Degree in Finance, MBA or equivalent required;
12. 20% travel required (mostly Benelux region);
