Purpose of the position
The primary missions of the Business Controller are to ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial operations aligned with the company’s valuation rules and their reporting to the company management. The role also plays a key part in the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that financial projections are aligned with business objectives and that performance is closely monitored against targets.
Main activities and responsibilities
Financial Controls & Forecasting
* Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
* Monitor the financial performance of each business unit, identifying variances.
* Support department directors in reviewing monthly costs compared to budget/forecasts and when needed, set up corrective actions.
* Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts, ensuring close follow-up of liquidity and optimizing cash management.
* Establish and maintain a risk and control matrix, conducting periodic internal control audits to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Accounting & Reporting
* Guarantee accurate and rigorous accounting treatment of all operations in accordance with BE GAAP and the company’s valuation rules.
* Ensure the timely completion of month-end and year-end closings, collaborating closely with the accounting team.
* Review and validate monthly and annual financial results, analyzing deviations from budget and forecasts.
* Conduct in-depth control of cost and revenue allocation, ensuring accurate analytical reporting that directly impacts company performance.
* Manage the invoicing process for Cargo customers and reconcile direct operating costs with related revenue.
* Prepare monthly financial and detailed analytical reports for shareholders and Air Belgium’s Management.
* Develop and document standardized accounting procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy over time.
Administrative & Operational Support
* Supervise the accounting team with regards to daily administrative tasks, including cash flow monitoring, payment follow-ups, customer collections, surveys, and Works Council reporting.
* Set up and monitor a strong Purchase to Pay process, ensuring compliance with internal guidelines.
* Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing financial processes and supporting the company's growth.
* Undertake any additional tasks that support the achievement of the department’s objectives, within the scope of the role’s competencies.

Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial controlling, accounting, or a similar role, preferably within an international company.
* Solid knowledge of BE GAAP and financial reporting standards.
* Experience in internal controls, budgeting, and cash flow management.
* Previous exposure to the aviation or logistics sector is a plus.
