Description
As International Legal Counsel, you will play a key role as legal advisor on all legal issues affecting our customer's international and European division as well as its subsidiaries and branches. Your main responsibilities include:
* Review and analyze tender documents.
* Provide legal analysis and recommendations; actively contribute to tender reviews.
* Draft and review contractual documentation required during the tender phase and provide support during contract negotiations with customers, partners and subcontractors.
* Facilitate the transfer of information during contract award to execution teams and contract managers.
* Ensure constant communication with these teams during the execution or construction phase.
* Monitor all claims in close collaboration with the relevant contract manager; advise on strategies to be adopted in the event of litigation.
* Manage and supervise litigation, including court and arbitration proceedings.
* Select and coordinate external counsel on these matters.
Profile
The candidate :
* Holds a university degree in law, additional qualifications will be an asset.
* At least five years' significant experience in international construction, French public procurement or project development, and related litigation.
* Experience with a reputable law firm or construction company is desirable. Knowledge of FIDIC contracts, as well as real estate development and contract management, would be appreciated.
* Fluency in both English and French; any other language, particularly Dutch and Portuguese, would be a plus.
* Demonstrates a good understanding of, or interest in, project finance and public-private partnerships.
* Demonstrates an ability to combine a business partner role with strong intellectual independence, with the aim of promoting a sound and sustainable legal framework for our client's activities.
