Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development [Manager] to join our team in Brussels. The successful candidate will support our EU antitrust, merger control, regulatory, trade, and litigation practices. The role involves three main areas of responsibility: pitches, submission to legal rankings, and drive the practice BD & Marketing Business plan by managing conferences, online marketing, and thought leadership initiatives to develop outstanding client relationships.
Duties and Accountabilities
Pitches:
* Lead the development and delivery of high-quality, persuasive pitches and proposals to secure new business.
* Collaborate with partners and practice groups to tailor pitches to client needs and strategic goals.
* Conduct client, market, sector research and competitive analysis to enhance the effectiveness of pitches.
* Ensure timely and accurate completion of all pitch-related documentation.
* Produce and maintain relevant credentials and related materials about the capabilities and experience for the practice group, including lawyer’s biographies, deal lists, brochures and capability statements in support of client targeting efforts.
* Ensure accurate and timely recording of all pitches, proposal and business opportunities in the Firm’s CRM system (InterAction), including pitch win/loss ratio and reasons for success/failure.
* Maintain and promote the use of the Firm’s matter experience database to maintain credentials and business development activities.
Submission to Legal Rankings:
* Coordinate and manage the submission process for legal rankings and directories (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500).
* Gather and analyze relevant data and information from partners and practice groups.
* Draft, review, and finalize submissions to ensure they accurately reflect the firm's strengths and achievements.
* Track and report on ranking results and provide recommendations for improvement.
BD & Marketing Business plan: Conferences, Online Marketing, Thought Leadership
* Plan, organize, and manage participation in industry conferences and events, including speaker engagements and sponsorships.
* Develop and implement online marketing strategies to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.
* Collaborate with partners and the Knowledge Team to produce and market thought leadership content, including articles, whitepapers, and webinars.
* Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and thought leadership initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
* Proactively work with the Firm’s Communications Team to improve the profile and positioning of the group – both internally and externally.
* Be an active contributor in the Firm’s social media programs and activities.
* In coordination with the Brussels Events Manager, organize internal and external events, including building relationships with key external organizations.
* Support the update and maintain Connect and external practice and lawyer pages on the Firm’s website and bio tool system.
* Facilitate the sharing of information with marketing colleagues in other offices and practices.
* Other ad hoc projects as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a law firm or professional services environment.
* Strong understanding of EU antitrust, merger control, trade, regulatory and litigation desirable.
Skills and Competences
* Experience dealing with senior stakeholders and working autonomously.
* Excellent communication skills – written and oral – and ability to work at all levels in English; fluency in other languages is an added value.

Location and Reporting
* This role is located in the Brussels office.
* Reports to the Director, Business Development, Disputes & Competition and Global Senior Business Development Manager for Antitrust/Competition.
