Job description Laboratory Experimentation: Conduct experiments related to bioengineered cornea transplantation under the supervision of a senior researcher. Design and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform a range of laboratory techniques, including cell culture and tissue engineering, and related analyses such as qPCR, immunohistochemistry and histology. Data Collection and Analysis: Record and organize experimental data accurately. Assist in the analysis and interpretation of experimental results. Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Troubleshoot and address technical issues with laboratory instruments. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed experimental reports, including methodologies, results, and conclusions. Maintain comprehensive laboratory notebooks in compliance with regulatory standards. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including researchers, clinicians, to achieve project goals. Communicate effectively with project consortium and provide regular updates on project progress. Profile A professional bachelor’s degree in biomedical laboratory sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines. Background or strong interest in ophthalmology, corneal transplantation and tissue engineering Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively. Since the candidate will most likely be involved in experiments with laboratory animals, a FELASA B certificate is desired. Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques relevant to cell biology, cell culture or tissue engineering You are proficient in Microsoft 365. You have good oral and written knowledge of English, Dutch. You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation. You have strong skills in planning and organisation. You will receive a gross monthly salary within pay band 4.1-6.1 of the pay scales of the Administrative and Technical Staff. Your entry-level grade depends on your relevant professional experience. You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
