Purpose of the Job
Participate in the complete development cycle of the Base Software (BSw) for Traction electronics, by assuring the works of design and test of the software for Command-Control, following the standard 50128 within the framework of national or international rail projects.
Collaborating with the Traction Control and Validation Software Engineers, the Base Software (BSw) Engineer designs software modules, realizes integration activities, non-regression checks, and generates a BSw build/version.
POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION
Objectives
Manage and take responsibility for the assigned tasks (BSw functions/blocs implementation) in terms of quality and time. Document the BSw produced according to the quality and processes adopted within the project. Conduct software module and integration testing.
Organisation Reporting
In the Services Engineering department - Engineering branch, the Base Software Developer works in the Software, Testers & Tools team.
Hierarchical reporting to Software Team Leader.
Functional reporting to Base Software Engineering Manager.
MISSIONS
Performance Measurement/KPI’s
1. Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) indicators for the security of persons, properties, and the environment, by applying the safety regulations of the company.
2. Periodically followed up by the Base Software Engineering Manager and the Software Team Leader.
3. Control command & contractual software acceptance by customers (internal & final).
4. Quality of the delivered work through the software development cycle, software anomalies report files, change request files, and documentation (including but not limited to: test reports, technical documentation, user manuals, procedures).
5. Respect and improve the costs allocated.
6. Respect the delivery planning and follow-up the software development documents.
7. No non-compliances for delivery during Quality audits (IRIS, Certifer).
8. Correct application of referenced evolution and software procedures.
9. Number of modifications due to coding problems (validation internal or tests, etc.).
Responsibilities
1. Respect and apply the EHS rules.
2. Work on multiple projects and manage priorities.
3. Accumulate know-how for electronics dedicated to the control of railway energy power conversion sub-systems.
4. Perform BSw development activities, including: Conceptual definition of BSw architectures/functionalities (Standardisation), BSw Requirements Specifications and Configuration history documentation, BSw Requirements Test Specifications, engineering level Impact analysis, BSw source code, BSw Integration into train level architecture, BSw Validation for internal and external/homologation purposes, and coordination of project activities across engineering sites, if necessary.
5. Perform Reliability Growth activities on systems in service.
6. Technical coordination / technical management of Co-Design activities with suppliers.
7. Perform planning / controlling of the technical activities.
8. Support budgeting activities for offers.
9. Respect the QCD and update the indicators of software activity.
10. Participate in design reviews.
11. Provide regular progress reports to hierarchical/functional management and raise any critical situation.
12. Participate in the improvement/optimisation of BSw components and processes, when needed.
13. Participate in the development of test means and laboratory equipment, when needed.
14. Participate in the know-how capitalization in laboratory competencies.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Experience
1. Experience of at least 2 years in real-time software design and standard application (ultra RTOS appreciated).
2. Experience with formal SW development processes.
3. Experience in module testing and V-life cycle software development appreciated.
4. Experience in the field of command and control of technical systems.
5. Knowledge in communication protocol (CAN, MVB, TrDP, CIP).
6. Basic knowledge of software configuration management tools (Clearcase, SVN, Git, Clearquest).
7. Basic knowledge about electronic hardware design.
8. Experience in agile and traditional development methodologies (Scrum, V-model waterfall/hybrid) appreciated.
9. Experience in the railway field appreciated.
10. Knowledge with Matlab / Simulink would be appreciated.
11. Knowledge of cybersecurity standards appreciated.
12. Reverse engineering ability appreciated.
13. Experience in automation appreciated.
14. Knowledge in Requirements Management Tools (DOORS) appreciated.
15. Use of test and measurement devices such as testers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
16. Programming Languages: Deep knowledge of C language (MUST), C++ (Appreciated).
17. Good scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, C# etc.) appreciated.
18. Tools: DSP Texas Instruments Compilers.
Matlab / Simulink appreciated.
